I believe this is a LT 1000, and I am planning to make it into a UTV type thing by moving the axle back, stretching the frame, making a dump bed giving her the old pulley swap and using it to haul stuff around the farm. She will also be (hopefully) getting a new briggs & scrap iron oppy, and I guess the frame stretch is limited by how big of a belt I can get
I might not get to working on it for a little while as I have my dad's 3 grass cutting machines that need everything from belts to fuel pumps, cracked hoods, broken deck cables, oil changes, carb cleans and the like, As well as the 210-5 mud mower and the STX 38... yeah I got a pretty small list...

Just basically noting that I have more parts, I now have a 16 HP vanguard V-twin in unknow cond but I have tons of parts tractors now, still might not get rolling until the late spring though.
Alrighty guys, we are officially moving into the "planning" stage, basically again, she's getting a frame stretch with the dump bed and here are my plans and things I have to do
-Locate motor, not sure yet if I'll find a good motor or rebuild the oppy, that's still up for debate.
-Pulley swap, I'm thinking 8" to 3", does anyone have a ballpark stock speed in 6th that I could use to decide on a swap?
- Frame stretch, I have 4" 1/8 thick angle iron, not sure if this is strong enough but I don't really have any other options.
-Dump bed, it NEEDS power dump, I was thinking of doing a winch dump system, but then I realized that I could use an old log splitter, I got a bead on one without the engine for 75 bucks (Buying the hydraulics new would cost almost 500) so I might try to do that with the winch as a backup plan
-Steering, not really sure on this one the steering is CRAP almost a literal half turn of play, and part of the steering was welded a bunch of years ago and I can't remember which part, so I'm open to suggestions, what do you guys think of getting a steering rack off a car and using that?
-Alt option for the pulley swap, I'm thinking of doing a chain drive with a centrifugal clutch, has anyone else tried this with a gear tranny and does the clutch disengage properly to allow the tranny to shift?
- Tires, going to grab some quad tires, might do the same size for the front as for the rear, will just have to lower the front end
-Foot throttle, this tractor has the clutch on the left side where it should be so this shouldn't be too difficult
-Doc locker (That guy has literally become famous on these forums)
- Accessories -- Front bumper -- Winch, I can grab a 2000lbs one for 120 bucks at Peavy Mart (the really stupid thing they renamed TSC) -- Rear hitch receiver -- Toolbox -- And random stuff like an hour meter and possibly a tach
- Brakes, Almost forgot this one I'm thinking a separate pedal next to the gas like a car, does anyone know the cheapest way to do this is? I would like to do front brakes and be able to throw some turfs on and do a burnout, however I don't really want to spend a ton on these.
Anyway that's my list, I just have to start working on a pricing list, just see what kind of cash I need, don't want to get halfway through the project and run my wallet dry...

Sounds like a pretty cool plan! Careful going with too small with the pulley you want enough surface area for grip, I think most guys would recommend a 4" minimum especially because you'll have a cargo bed. To simplify the dump bed you might want to consider using a 12 volt electric linear actuator, 2 realys and a on/off/on momentary contact switch, the stuff from the log splitter will take up alot of space and it's what's known as "dual acting" and may not work the way you expect. You can but shouldn't run a chain on its side but with the go kart CTVs you can use a belt pulley and yes the (centrifugal) clutch will fully disengage, as soon as you let of the gas in fact.
As for front brakes, im putting ATV front drums on The Warhorse after seeing what this fella did! I already had them but you should be able to find a stripped down frame fairly cheap and hopefully it has good tires because then you've killed 2 birds with one stone! https://www.atltf.com/t4042-front-drum-brake-conversion-for-your-atlt
Ok, I just looked into the clutches, they don't really have enough teeth to get the kind of speed I need, I am looking into the actuators, don't really like that idea too much, and I will look into the front brakes, thanks for the tip...

The CVTs are like a transmission, almost the same setup as on a snowmobile or John Deere Gator with the 2 pulleys, I have one on an ATV with a GX200 and I'm hitting 35KPH. You could leave your rear pulley alone, get a pulley for the CVT and find the right size belt. Do some research on them at DIYgokarts before you write them off they're pretty cool!
Sounds like you’re really coming along! If you’re going the hydraulic route, I wonder if power steering might be worth considering. Wander to a u-pull it and I bet you could find a good used valve somewhere. I dunno how well it would work out but might be worth some research.
Thanks man! @brianator, I've seen the torque converters on youtube alot there are a couple things I don't really think I like, number one is the price, I really don't think I need to spend $250+ on the drivetrain of this tractor. Also I don't think it would be all that useful as then I would have the CVT and the 6 spd which would basically give me an automatic with 6 ranges, not to mention trying to find a torque converter belt that long...
my second issue is the actuators, I agree that would be the simplest and easiest method, however, the biggest actuators I could probably afford would be 270 lb actuators which would come out to about $190 bucks for 540 pounds of lift at about 60 seconds from retracted to fully out, If anyone knows how much weight that could actually lift with the decreased leverage that would be great, not sure how well that will work.
Now about the hydraulics, @Rustbucket Garage, you posted while I was writing this, I don't think I will be able to get my paws on a log splitter anymore, however if I get a steering rack off a car, I might be able to grab the pump as well and have power steering, I got a guy that I know who buys scrap cars. He actually got me a hitch receiver for free for the WH 210-5 so I might be able to get a pretty good deal on a rack hopefully, I'll see what I can do about that...
Sounds like a good start. Since you are building a dump truck, why the need for speed? I would suggest a more moderate pulley setup. Log splitters typically have HUGE hydraulic components. Maybe something smaller would work? Watching…

$100 complete (with backplate) on Amazon. Some assembly and fabrication work will be required. Not trying to sell you on them just thought you should know. I also found a 330lb linear actuator on Amazon for $70 and a 1300lbs one for $120...

Yeah, I decided that the log splitter would be too overkill, as for the speed end of things, the 6-spd tranny will allow me to go slow enough to haul and dump, however this will be a multi-purpose tractor, mainly working, but also a bit of corn-field ripping and road driving so it has to be able to try to keep up with the atvs...
@brianator, I think I'm going to go with the actuators now, they seem simpler then the winch, and the hydraulics will be too heavy and a ton of work and probably money as well, I would have to buy all new lines...

Sure will be and if you go for the heavy duty actuator I saw you should be able to pull it off for about $200 with the switch and relays included. If you need help with the wiring let me know, it's fairly simple but I can draw a schematic for you once you're ready!
alrighty fellers I think I'm going to be going with these fellers 330lbs actuator they are 330lbs, giving me a total lift of 660lbs, @brianator yep I think it should come out to about $200 bucks, as for the wiring thanks for the offer, I appreciate that, I'm pretty decent at wiring but I will give you a shout if I need any help, again I haven't started any of the physical work yet, I still have some stuff to sell to get some kind of funding before I start.

I did make a small mistake in my suggestion but it simplifies your wiring even more, all the actuators I see are 2 wire so you'll need a winch contactor like this. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B08RHKSW82
@TechnoChicken I've bought some actuators on ebay for my cub cadet. they are rated to lift 1320 lbs. and they are around 45 to 55 dollars. for various length strokes. and they don't draw much amperage. all i use is a double throw double pole momentary switch wired to reverse the polarity. and they don't grunt or lag and iv'e put them through the test. i run a three point hitch on the rear and a lift arm on the front for a fork lift and push blade. i've not been dissapointed.

Do you have a link to those? or did you buy them used, I'm a little hesitant to buy off the evilbay but if it's almost half the price and 3x the lift I'm game for that.
I went and had a peek on kijji there, I found a SuperJack 2X H8 linear actuator, he wants 50 bucks for it and it has a rated cap of 2250lbs, the one problem is it's quite far, all the way in stoney creek, I think it would be worth it for a 2250lbs actuator, would save me a few bucks too
EDIT: I looked on the EvilBay, didn't really find anything cheaper then amazon though
