2022 Build-Off Discussion

General discussion for the 2022 build-off is in this thread!

Man, I got rusty in all the locations and stuff to setup the build-off in the forums.  I think I have all the 2020's updated to 2022.

I'll start with a prize listing.

Places 1,2,3 Prizes  I will send ATLTF stickers.
I am working on a secondary prize for all three as well.  I will post that as I get it more solidified.

I am thinking about sponsoring some prizes like Harbor freight gift cards because they would be easy to ship. what are peoples thoughts on that?

I was actually thinking the same thing. Harbor Freight, Fleet Farm, Menards... could even do just a straight Visa card.

Just keep in mind not all stores are nationwide or cross borders. I’d love to have a Menards here in Oklahoma. They saved our hides when we went out to haspin this past year. Lost 3 tires on the toy hauler that trip. Menards in S Illinois next door to a camping world had a tire (several actually) that got me home. Camping World btw evidently does not carry tires.

The VISA gift card made the most sense, thinking:
1st: $100
2nd:$50
3rd:$25

That's a lot of $$ for a person. But, that would be up to you.

Upon completion, builder MUST post a video of completed build, consisting of a walk-around and operation to demonstrate function and capabilities. The video must be hosted on a site that will allow the video to be shared in your post, such as YouTube. Builders should also make a post saying that build is completed, or risk build not qualifying. If for some reason you are not able to shoot or post this video, you MUST contact a forum administrator to closely scrutinize your build to determine eligibility BEFORE the competition closes.

@Doug and I will probably ask a lot of questions and possibly some pictures of it in action.  The host allows for some embedding now.  Maybe show us a video on another platform if you have it like Facebook or Instagram?  Also, you will need to let us know in your build thread that you are complete.

What do you guys think of using the blower part off a leaf blower as a supercharger?

@TechnoChicken actually, roadkill did it a while ago with a chevy Monza, they bought 4 Stihl backpack blowers and actually made boost here's a link

I think it’d be pretty cool! Probably belt drive it with an extension off the flywheel?

I just figured i'd ask, probably wouldn't try it without an aluminum flywheel, or without building the whole engine...

Keep it governed and you wouldn't need to worry about the flywheel but you would want a stronger connecting rod either way

im interested in building a boosted tractor one day i think it would be pretty easy on a murray just gotta decide the motor but thats for another day
