If anyone has any knowledge of this machine or builds using similar platform I could reference to learn I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Those things are awesome, I have only seen a few in person. That tractor is a beast, I would run jeep tires on it haha...

Looks pretty sweet man! Reminds me a bit of @richierichoverdrive’s mtd named budgie. If I had to guess, it’s probably an mtd. Do you know if it has a peerless 2300?

Welcome, I haven't seen one of those.  I'm guessing by the lever it is a hydro, but a beefy one.

Welcome to the forum!

Looks like you got yourself an MTD GT! Judging by the large rear wheels, it's got the shaft driven hydrostatic transaxle. What are your plans for the ol' girl?

Well, after seeing the way the engine is mounted, it's definitely a shaft driven MTD, but you know more than me about what type trans that thing's got. I want to say a hi/low or something but you're probably right about the hydro.

Oh yeah, welcome @Coolhandluke... I like the name. LOL.

Most likely a hydro trans with a Peerless 2500 or 2600 two speed final drive (hi/lo range).

Yeah, I've seen those before on MTD GT forums and FaceBook groups. From what I understand, they're very similar to my 990.  They share the same transmissions, mowing deck, etc.  Some models shared the same engine.  They're both made by MTD.

So, it should be a Peerless 2500 final drive like Allis said, with an Eaton model #M-10 (Eaton Part #ET-001001-27 MTD Part # 717-0344).

Very stout, sturdy transmissions.  However, parts for them are worth their weight in gold, literally.  So make sure you take good care of it because you definitely don't want to try to find parts for them.

Here is what the full configuration looks like:

If it was sitting for any amount of time, definitely make sure the fins on the trans aren't clogged up, it's just like an engine; it relies on that fan not to over heat it.

Here's what mine looked like:
