I'd love to see one of these old MTDs built as a resto mod off roader like Ol' Red. I'd find an old flathead to put in there before a predator. I don't think the slanted jug on the predator would look right under the hood because the crank is inline with the tractor.

The predator would be only for moving the tractor around, it wouldn't stay in there.

Yeah, while I like the idea, I would be careful with swapping the diesel into it. You have a 2317, I have a 2372, and at least on the 2372 each forward gear comes in as counterclockwise, but leaves as clockwise (forward). My diesel turns clockwise, which would effectively give me 4 reverses and 1 forward.

Nah a diesel clone spins the same way as almost all small engines. You'll be fine, hundreds of people have put those diesels in tractors without issues.

No problemo! Looking forward to seeing the build, these old MTD GT's are pretty neat old tractors. Don't see too many of them being modded either so it should be cool to see.
