| OUCH!!!!!!
Looks like water were in there. You should take the Engine apart again, take out the piston, and hone the cylinder. Then remove all the buildup with a wire wheel, lap tha valves, put everything together, remove the rust off everything before reassembling it, check the injection stuff, if everything works correct, and lube up the cylinder, try to fire it up again!

Oh the Krahper would need soooo much more, and be way less powerful. - SebastianAlbrecht wrote:

| Oh dear. Must have sat outside for a while. I wouldn't take the piston out, try rubbing the cylinder with very fine emery cloth to get rid of the rust and clean the carbon off everything first to see if it starts. Try using a blow torch in the air intake when you try to start it, should help ignite the diesel. Clean out the injectors too.

| No I would definitely take the piston out. Might as well hone the cylinder evenly and get a nice even crosshatching on the entire cylinder wall, then it'd be like starting with a brand new engine. He did say that it was spitting diesel out of the exhaust, so I assume the injector is working. You can buy an injector for these engines for cheap if you need to. If it's putting diesel out the exhaust that means it's not being ignited, so using a blow torch as I said earlier would help to ignite the fuel. Possibly didn't ignite because of the rust/water in the combustion chamber preventing the fuel to burn. Or the compression isn't good enough to ignite the fuel by compression ignition.

| Cross-hatching plays a big part in cylinder and piston lubrication. Basically a good hone job would make it like starting eith a brand new engine. I doubt that cylinder is the reason it's not starting though, maybe warming the air up like Matt said would help 'er out. I don't think it was the injectors, it was probably the standing water in the cup of the piston. - RichieRichOverdrive wrote:

What were the valves lashed at? A guestimate, I couldn't find specs on it. Tore it down tonight. I bet I have the ONLY 7 horse Yanmar with DIRT in he bottom of the crank case. Must have gotten in where the drain plugs weren't. Well, I guess I'll do some valve work and hone the cylinder, reassemble it, and try again.

Couldn't see the piston well. How were the rings?
Really good, surprisingly. - SebastianAlbrecht wrote:

I wish I could help you there, but I spent my last money on Murray Widebody.
LOL thanks but I can afford it. I have enough money, I'm just a stingy old miser. lol

Heck no, it's dry as a bone down here. All the creeks have dried up, no rain for months, the grass is all dead, starting to lose a few trees. Got the engine torn apart: Will have to order some parts, then I'll get it all together again. Also need to buy a torque wrench.
