| Uh, we're talking about the engine going into the tractor you're building in this thread, I don't see how that's thread jacking. Also, we're just trying to help you out here.. | That's a good idea. Practice on some scrap metal. You could grind the keyway close like he suggests and then take your time filing it to perfection.
There is a way to do this since you already have a straight section of crankshaft to work with: 1)get the pulley hub where it needs to be 2) with the setscrews removed mark their locations on the crankshaft 3) spot drill a couple of dimples for the setscrews to dig down into.
The key thing here is to make sure you have the hub location correct the first time because it's not going to be as easy to move it.

Machining the tapered shaft end to 1" and cut a keyway in there, so it should be the best solution in my eyes

Possibly, but I don't own a dremel. - Crazy_Carl wrote:

- W, I would try to get a free blown Generator, and cut off the generator the tapered end, and try if it fits your Diesel tapered shaft and if it fits, weld the pulley on the tapered part of the generator, and cut off the generator crap you do'nt need
Unfortunately, that won't work as the pulley needs to be pretty far up the shaft to be aligned. - RockeyDA wrote:

Yeah, cuz I might change the gearing of it. - SebastianAlbrecht wrote:

Yeah but I'd have to pull the whole shaft out and take it to a machine shop to do that. - RockeyDA wrote:

I have neither. - RockeyDA wrote:

its out of my price range but looks quite similar to his john deere even though its a slightly different model. https://pennstate.craigslist.org/grd/d/john-deere-112/6629854929.html That's super cool. A little overpriced for what it is in my opinion.

I'm not sure what you mean @RockeyDA? Did you mean the grille? I plan to paint the pedal, the rims, the vari-drive handle, the engine pulley, etc. yellow. Should look cool. - MightyRaze wrote:

I would have probably painted like a patio series deere. Those are so cool! Hmm...not my style really. Anyway, I like the classic John Deere look. - AllisKidD21 wrote:

Yeah, I'd never seen them before.
