| Hey everyone! Wanted to say hello from the flatlands of NE Arkansas. I've tinkered with riding mowers for years, and recently my wife and I bought 20 acres in the Ozark foothills. We want to have a small livestock ranch/farm and I am planning to build a utility mower from an '03 Murray Widebody. I don't really want to make it too fast, just more of a pulling rig, tool carrier, and to get from one end of the property to the other faster than walking lol. I also have a Craftsman LT3000 frame that I could mod, but it belonged to my dad who recently passed and I'd rather keep it original. I also recently restored a '00 Murray Widebody, and also have 2 Craftsman LT2000's, and a Stanley GT (which may be an offroad mod too). Glad to be part of the forum! | |

| Welcome to the forums @Blackriver , sounds like maybe a mild pulley swap to get a little more travel speed but still have some good low gear pulling. NE Arkansas is a beautiful area just around the outskirts of Fayetteville. | |

| Welcome to the forum! 20 acres is more than enough to start with. Is it heavily treed, scrubbed, or level? | |

| Welcome to the forum! My Ol Red tractor tops out around 12 mph and it's great for going just down the road from one of my dad's property to the other. It's pretty easy to build something for what you want to do. | |

It's mostly hilly pasture with a few wooded areas,

12 mph sounds about like what I need. What type of pulley swap did you do?

| I went from a 4" engine and 6.5" trans pulley to a 6" engine pulley and a 5" trans pulley. The high gear in my transaxle has quite a bit of reduction at 24.6:1 so these pulley sizes may not necessarily apply to you but I have a mud mower/ go kart specific top speed calculator that I could use on my computer to help you with your build. | |
