Kinky Dee's Dirty John [2018 Build-Off Entry]

Hi Everyone

      Near as I can tell, this is a '03.
I think it has a Spicer 1360 rear end.
It is a barn find that I managed to get as a gift.
I did get it runnin tonight. It seems to run OK however, the carb is stopped up. I guess we can expect that after years and years of settin in a barn.

It is totally stock.

Admins, please let me know if this entry does not qualify for the 2018 BuildOff

This is what I think I need to do to "Dirty John":

* Add a "Doc Locker".
This has gotta be done!

* Re pulley a bit for more speed!

* Lower the seat height somehow?

* Change out the body for something really cool?

* Upgrade the tires to something with more traction.

* Upgrade the battery to a auto battery.

* I may move the ft. Axle forward. I have not made up my mind on this yet.

As I dont have a bunch of parts laying around, its gonna be difficult for me to plan much more until I can get a hold of some parts...

* I have enough 7018 to take over the world. Kinda hard to say what else will happen to this unit

If this plan does not meet the reg requirements, someone please let me know

Also, the seat height is waaaaaaaaay too high for any speed much at all
So, I gotta lower that somehow.

The neighbor guy stopped by the other day.
Said the carb is out of whack.
I called 3 or 4 lawn mower shops to see if they had some carb whack for sale.

They all seemed to think this was funny?

They all seemed to think that I should bring it to them or, for a few dollars more, they would come and get it to add some carb whack...

Sounds to me like some sort of a rip off?

One bloomin idiot even tried to sell me a new carb.

I mean... Its like...
I know all about carbs. Low carb, high carb and well...

Maybe I should start lookin in the organic isle at my local grocery store for some carb whack?

If anyone on here has any extra carb whack they could send me, please msg me how much it costs and stuff and I will gladly put a check in the mail to you.

Pretty funny story but if I had to guess you need a good old fashioned thorough carburetor cleaning and a check of your float adjustment.

LOL, just an update on build-off progress would be fine. Thanks for showing you are still around. Sometimes people just vanish after entering the build off.

The facts are...
Dirty John is setting in a pile waiting for money.
I did score a set of 4 Razor wheels and tires.
Tires are holding air and slick but, the wheels are really nice

I have been searching for a set of hub's for the 3/4 axle I have...
No money for that...

I really would like to upgrade the rear transaxle to something with a 1" shaft but...
No money for that either

I have the skills, ability and access to my friends machine shop however, I feel that if I show up with a request to "build a toy" then, they may not grant me access to their shop when I really need it to repair or manufacture a part for the excavation company side of the business...

I also thought of buying a lathe and mill so I could do what I want and or need to do when I want/need to do it but...

Yup, you guessed it; No money for that either

Some of the most famous builds have started out low buck.  You have to make use of the junk you have laying around.  Yeah it may not turn out to be the machine of your dreams but it will turn out cool and functional.  I'd keep your machine shop friends in mind to help you out with small lathe and mill projects for the machine but don't overwhelm them bu having them build the whole machine.  That's my two cents.

You could make some hubs from old rims. I've done it for front hubs before. Just make sure you get them as centered as possible.
