Well got up this morning to a very unusual snow in Oklahoma in April?!



It was pretty coming down, lasted  a few hours then warmed up to almost 50 later.  LOL

So I am looking at the dash trying to plan it out as I will not need the throttle cable to my knowledge.  I may go ahead for cruise control like my other machine.  I have been thinking about replacing the amp meter with a volt meter.    I think I have enough holes for everything else I need.  Maybe 1 more hole.

It's been pretty cold here recently too, starting to warm up though. A volt meter would be nice, I always think that the more gauges in a dash the cooler it looks!

Its OK, I was looking at weather forecast and Thursday we are back up to 90*

I'd rather have an amp meter to show what the battery is drawing from the charging system. Amp meters show that your charging system is working, and can also show if your diodes failed and are letting current pass backwards into your stator(that was a major whoops...put a new diode in and she was fine though).

I'm thinking a round one that does both.  If I can find one that I like.

Huh, one that does both? Well, if you can find one with both readings use it. I'm sure you know that volts and amps are something completely different.

Put in a push button start, a ignition lock, and a safety kill switch for emergency situations

Well mighty I’m a voltmeter guy so that gets my vote. What are the four smaller holes in the dash for? Keyswitch, choke, and two light switches?

I'd bet one's for an electric PTO clutch.

Yeah. My thoughts are items that I add that draw power to watch volts, then amps to make sure I am charging.   I have seen a couple round ones that do both, but there are not that many round ones.  There are a lot of square ones.

The bottom left was a switch that went to the rear fender plug.  Not sure what it was for.  It was an on/off switch not a rocker.  One under the square for steering was the light switch.  It was a switch to run lights off the light circuit or battery depending on position, next one was choke and the next was switch.

I'm thinking I may need to drill 2 holes for what I need.


What I am thinking, go ahead with the throttle, then light sw, fog sw, choke, switch.  2 new holes would be left maybe a tether kill, right is my dash fuel shutoff.

You're going to run an electric fuel pump?

No, it will be just an inline shutoff.  But instead of dangling on the fuel line by the engine, I have it dash mounted for easy turn off.  Like what I had on the sasquatch.

Same exact one.  I got 2 of them prepping for my next build. 

oooo that's a nice touch.  It would come in handy for putting it in storage.  Just turn the valve off, put it in neutral, leave the engine running, and walk away.

That dash mounted fuel valve is a nice touch, easier than opening the hood and turning the valve off.

Only thing about the shutoff that far from the engine, it does take a few minutes to kill the engine with it.

That's a good point since these engines aren't gas hogs like V8s.

Speaking of V8s that shutoff valve reminds me of how race cars are set up.  The fuel shutoff has to be clearly labeled and accessible by the driver in a lot of classes.

I had a shutoff mounted next to the carb on a 17.5 single, still took a few minutes to shut off. Had one on an oppy too and it took a bit.

Where you can get those dash fuel shutoff valves? Would be a nice Feature on my mower, instead than opening the Hood to turn on or shut off the Fuel

And How you did the Lettering?

I bought them at Tractor Supply here.  I have seen them online too on ebay and amazon.  I don't see them on their website. Here it is from Home Depot.

That lettering is cool, but if i wanted to actually write with it I'd probably have a heart attack trying to get them all straight lol
