Looks good allis! how does the added weight affect the coil travel?

Put some mufflers on that girl or your gonna be deaf with those dual pipes off of an oppy.

Hopefully it will! Haha thanks mighty, it definitely does look cool under the hood. I like "2" better than Ver 2.0, so I'll probably just leave it alone, haha.

Thanks biggas! It actually didn't seem to affect the coils or the steering or anything, which is nice. I'm not sure about mufflers, but maybe I'll point the pipes down or something to cut back on the noise for the operator. We'll see, haha.

It's mildly swapped. It's all he needs. It's a work horse too. This thing just went from a donkey to a mule!

Agreed, I have no plans to change it. Speaking of, I found of that with the placement of the new engine my belt still fits just fine! I got lucky there, it's actually over to the right a bit more so my belt shouldn't hit against my center link anymore. This opposed swap is looking better all the time!! Hahaha.

Oh yeah! man this just makes me want to engine swap my mower even more bad. Maybe this weekend?

For a work tractor or deep dedicated mud build, I could see the torque of an oppy being required. I am just fine with a single on mine rich....unless a v-twin falls into my lap, this one is staying.

....now if only Doug would approve my build...

Yeah the 12.5hp always did alright. I only swapped this engine in because I found it, I wasn't looking for one or anything. The good ol' Powerbuilt single will be un-govorned in the rat rod someday too, I'd hate to just abandon such a reliable engine.

I've just been kinda tinkering away at some small stuff today.

Got my fuel line all hooked up, had to get a slightly longer piece between the shut-off and fitler.



Also I got my oil temperature gauge plumbed in. Since the opposed twins have two oil drains I just plumbed the probe into the hole opposite the oil drain tube.



Then I just ran the wire around the engine and up to the dash.



Now I just need a throttle and choke cable, and I also need to figure out how to extend my starter cable. Hopefully I'll get 'er all ready soon.

I also knocked one more thing off the list of things to do, and that's my grille support rods.





Much better! Pretty strong too, more so than I though it would be. I can actually push the tractor by the grille, which is nice. I got my pulley and belt back on too, so basically all I need is to get a couple cables and install them.

Thanks! Yeah, haha they are pretty great. This engine is a '94, it's actually two years older that the previous engine.

The decals on this oppy are purdy and the red really pops. Seems to be in good shape just by looking at it. Do you know what it came off of or how many hours it has? Gonna keep the governor or yank that out?

Yeah it's incredibly clean for its age. Not sure about the hours or what it's off of, but apparently the guy was gonna use it for a project but changed his plans. Probably gonna leave the governor in because with this machine it probably wouldn't be much of a benefit.

There is a 20 horse at the junkyard I thought about grabbing. Guy said 50 bucks for it. I didn’t really have a use for it so I passed, but I think it’s still there. If I made a dedicated mud tractor or puller that needed that much torque I’d be all over it. It was newer than 2000 and is a big ol 46 cube

Yeah I'd pick that up for sure for 50 bucks. As long as it wasn't siezed haha. It'd have a four screw carb though, which would bother me because I like to have some mixture adjustment on my carbs. The Kohler Magnum on the GT has an adjustable idle jet and main jet, which is pretty great.

Woohoo! Haha, I basically just got my new cables swapped on, hooked up the starter cable (barely long enough), and fired 'er up! It runs great, the exhaust sounds absolutely awesome, and I'm loving the extra torque! I made a short walk around video so that should be up sometime soon. But yeah, I'm definitely loving thw new engine so far, glad I did it for sure! Let me know what ya think!

Hey I took the CQ for a drive with the new engine tonight too!! First time I’ve heard this engine run. Fired up first pull and everything!

Done exhaust yet?
