2018 Build-Off Discussion

[*ALERT-Update] added to some threads due to lack of update. Date has been documented. Not bad really, only 5 out of about 34 with lack of update. Better percentage than in the past.

The question has come up and not by members that this may affect.  "Is the kill switch that is on the engine ok?"

The Rule #6:
Kill switch must be installed and operable without operator touching engine.

Personally, I would define switches mounted to the engine as "on the engine".  
@Doug, @Doc Sprocket What are your thoughts on this?

Just a reminder to those that have said they are done with their build and I have marked ---Complete---. That does not guarantee finalist state.  Just a flag for the Admins to show YOU are done with your build.  That way the DNF's and those that say they are done can be sorted quickly.

OK guys!  Here is what is going to happen at the end of the buildoff.

ALL COMPETITION THREADS will get locked!
Then they will be under Review.  Once the review is complete.  The finalist will be selected and a vote will begin.  But that may be a few weeks.

Well mighty, you've really kept on top of this! Nice header changes and a great job managing all the threads!! Any idea how long the admins will take on going over the threads ?

OK, when I got done looking at all the entries, a question pops in my head. Who thinks that Bow Tie Mud Guy and Redzz02 should race, LOL.

Thank you Biggs. I have given Doug my 2¢. Doug wrote at the beginning maybe about the 4th? Not entirely sure.

You think next year since the buildoff is growing, we could have classes? Like a mild mod class using the stock chassis with mild reinforcement, open class for custom/heavily modified frames, and maybe one for mini bikes too since I know there are quite a few people into those. Just think it could be fun.

SUPER impressed with the completed builds I’ve been seeing so far, great job guys!

That has been brought up before. Actually one year was WAY more than this year. I think Doug likes the current format. If it gets TOO big, it may be something to look into down the line.

I am really looking forward to seeing how the voting turns out, surprised me when I looked at the entry list and counted over 35 entries but only 11 made it to the complete stage, I cant imagine how it would work if there were 35+ completed machines to go over.

That would be a pain. This is by far the biggest group I think to say complete. We will see if @Doug accepts them all? Honestly not sure how the finalist decision works yet. (Other than follow the rules) I did give Doug my 2 cents when I was cleaning up the section. Not sure if Doc and Stretch does too or if at all?

Seems like doc and doug are awfully busy, im surprised then can keep up with it as well as they do, I predict that you will end up leading this website as much as you have been caretaking it this last season.

It has been a good place to let out some creative juices.

@CraftsmanQuad19 maybe in a few years if the completed build numbers grow, but until then I don't think it would work out too well, what happens if only one person finishes in a class, do they automatically win first second and third place? Definitely sounds like a good idea if the forum continues to grow and more entrants complete builds, I do not plan on entering next year so that'll be one less fully custom build to compete against, and will let me focus on better prizes to sponsor next year also,


Definitely curious as to if all 11 are going to pass inspection and even more excited to see how the votes go, their are a lot of good builds this year, got me nervous!

Wow lot of finishers this time. Looks like some cool stuff out there. I've been busy with a bunch of stuff and haven't been on as much lately but I'm still around. I'm ready for some voting.

Maybe next year man!  Just waiting for the all powerful MR. ATLTF (or a Proxy) to do his magic then we can vote.

Excited to see who wins, since there are lots of sick Builds, and I do have 2-3 Favorites. WIll be hard to choose 1 I vote for! Or can you vote for few entries and then the entry with the most counts gets chosen?

I keep checking back hoping to see the voting poll open, the initial flood of votes might be pretty small, hasn't been much site activity it seems.

Absolutely, you can vote for yourself.
