2018 Build-Off Discussion

If this year is anything like last year, I will post 100 pics and not get done anyway, so that wont be a problem for me. Been almost a year since I jacked my back. I can get more shop time now but still have to watch what I do. Lifting a twin 2 or 3 times a day and flipping an old MTD frame by myself probably isnt on the list but I did it anyway. Some people just dont learn. cutting off a 20 foot x 16" maple limb and carrying 3 foot logs aint helping much either.

If its done done, you have to let an Admin know so we can lock the thread. If its "done" but you still continue making modifications to it and posting updates, then its subject to being considered in-progress.

I cant remember. Doing 4 years of it plus forum restructures kinds of jumbles things lol. Plus Doc did all the leg work the first 2.5 years until I got the hang of it.

I am assuming you are talking about the record? I didnt want to and wont try. I have 10 months to build this and if I thought I could get done in a month, I need to come up with more of a challenge.

If you are talking about completing the build and trashing it before the end of November, it would still be a valid build, as long as you have an operational video

Yes I was, lol! Nellybelle has been in running condition like a dozen times, and then busted a week later.

Will my build off thread be moved to the 2018 build off section because I can't post on it right now.

I think so, I think it fits all the rules.  Doug hasn't been on that I saw so they may know that you entered it.

Astro Rat is in the competition build thread already. Is it locked or something so you can post to it?

That is where the definition of "done" gets fuzzy. All I had to do last year is bolt up the sheet metal and take a pic to qualify. I knew it wasnt done and would not submit it as such.
My qualification for "done" is not only operational, but also reliable.

Man I am feeling old! I haven't done much due to the cold and you guys are going to town.

I agree. Everybody is doing great, and there is a good array of builds going on.
Its been very hard for me to go through all the builds and keep up with them, and let all the builders know that they're doing a fine job.

Yeah im at the point im lost and cant keep up on everybodys builds already.

As Doug posted in Doc's thread, we get sidetracked on the build-off threads.  I am an offender too.  Then again, I haven't seen this much participation with members in a few years.  

EDIT, There are a couple threads that have had no updates since creation. Be sure to update your threads! On a more positive note, this is the first time I have seen over half the threads up to date over a month after kick-off!!! Great Job guys!!!

I'm excited about the builds and participation this year. I joined the forum only a few months ago in October and now I find myself in the middle of one of the most competitive and exciting build off competitions ever. I'm glad I have a unique and probably one of the oldest tractors ever entered.

Well not everyone can get wheel horses Carl. My RER IS pretty old tho...... Not sure how old but defiantly up there.

This year seems like the build off really has gotten around and gotten interest . I think the entry numbers are going to drop off as there are a lot of threads that have had no activity since the start. Does that mean they get disqualified?

They do run the risk for DQ for no monthly progress reports this year.  It will prune the list down to active participants.  To my knowledge Dave007 is the only one mentioned his build is on hold, but he is still keeping us up to date as well. Not sure what Doug's process will be.  Warn them first or what?  He shouldn't have to babysit the threads.
