These....tensioners? shocks? I'm not sure what to call them. They came off of an electric exercise machine and provided up to 240 pounds of force. they pull inward unlike a shock that would resist outward. I was wondering what some of ya'lls ideas would be for using them.

I'd use them for a front shock on your pivot axel.

how so? it doesnt act like a normal shock.
down force it would just be a hard jolt with no cushion
it wouldnt allow flex really

I'd cut the spring out of them. A spring has more uses.

ive thought about something of that sort. would be great on a chain tensioner with a centrivical clutch (cant spell lol)
i would be afraid it would be difficult to make a belt clutch system work well with it. would have to be a very beefy clutch just to disengage it lol
