James's project" Bertha " [2017 Build-Off Entry] [Finalist]

My name is james un"jimjim0288"  this is my tractor Bertha and I feel as though it's less then 50 percent completed . The only thing I really modified is the front axle which I cut the welds off the Chanel that braces the axle and put in one inch spacer and lifted the hood two inches to clear atv tires . I have not welded the axle brace back in yet . I also put in some diamond plate on the dash with gauges and led push buttons which none have been wired yet , and I have cut out some of the wording that was no longer needed like the electric pto crap for the mower deck . So here are the things I'm going to be doing to it ...
•Change transmission from six speed between the legs to six speed on the fender and modify frame to mount it and set it further back then stock
•build mount for a 2000lb winch for the front of the tractor .
•weld in the support for the front axle and update axle with newer model with grease fittings .
• update the steering or modify it to be tighter .
• Finnish my wheel hubs " mounting surface isn't completely flat"
• mount a 48inch snow blade to work with winch and turn side to side with the mower lift .
• fine tweak the hood fitment
• build a rear bumper/ brush guard to match the front
• wire in the gauges / switchs / winch
• take it all apart and repaint every inch
• put it all back together and hopefully do well in the build off lol

Here's some pics for up dates , got the new trans in . Fender is cut and plastic shift pattern cover mounted with the new shifter lever built . Everything clears tires and all the gears line up .more to come soon

Yes it does , 16 hp opposed twin

So it started out as a 12hp brigs and upgraded it to a 16hp opposed twin

Update got my winch mounted , I'm very happy with how it looks . Just need to trim grill and fit the grey trim around the winch . Then on to welding the front axle back together and new axle to be put in

Nice start man! Right now I'd humiliate 4 people for that 12 hp briggs flatty though.... I'm dyin for one for my (gasp) "grass cutter"

I'm currently wasting an 18 horse oppy on a rebadged MTD... if I ever actually got traction, I'd twist of the poor lil fnr axles

I know it’s been a while, I’ve had a little set back “ bought a new house and moved an hour away from where I was and left my job , I will be posting pictures and updates to my tractor soon

Thanks and no job , I’m now a stay at home daddy , so money just got really tight lol thankfully enough I have pretty much everything I need to finish my tractor . I just got to find the time to work on it , we’ve been busy making our new home ours ..

Nothing wrong with that, if it was planned. I know about making the new house "home" We just moved this past DEC. We are still unpacking and making some mods that work for us!

My tractor finally made it to my new house , lot of work to be done ..

Starting the process of painting and then finishing wiring and button up a few odds and ends and it should be done

Starting to look like a tractor again
