redzz02's mini [2017 Build-Off Entry]

i was not sure of an entry this year but i have to, this year we are building, from my research a pretty rare, an mtd mini trail mower.
this build will not be fast by no means, nor will it be super capable, nor will it be the coolest mower anyone has seen,
BUT what will be unique about this build is it will be piloted by a two year old,im gonna build this trail mower for my nephew's first mower and get him started off young!
i picked this mower up a few years ago for 25$ the small 5 hp briggs flat head ran and burnt oil like it was its day job, with the fnr gear box and a live axle in the rear its a pretty cool mower. i can only find a few pictures on the internet of the 8hp electric start model, but never a pull start 5hp in this body style, yes my grille is not original either

plans:
-5.5hp predator vertical shaft motor
-peerless700 gear box(we are gonna limit him to two gears for now)
-upgrade the rear axle and put actual bearings on it (running on plastic bushings from factory)
-run some 15x6.5-6 snowblower tires in the rear and the rear 13's up front
-push bar and rear bumper/possible rack
-hitch with a possible matching trailer
-extend the clutch pedal so he can actually stop the mowchine
MOST IMPORTANT MOD
-*mod the famous dynamark hood to fit*

plans are to give him an upgrade from is electric jd gator. something that is quiet, and mainly something to run around the yard up camp but is more than capable in some of the trails once he learns like Uncle redzz02 lol. gonna gear it so that once he graduates to all 5 gears itll top out at about 10 mph.
it should be a fun little build and nothing too involved

Yeah me too... I've been buy, selling, and reading the larger toys on the black market lately, have been trying to lay low on the projects too, this should be a fun little build, I'm hoping to enter another possible winner this year but not too sure if I want to get that involved

I've got this little jewel. From what I can find online it's a 70s sears, vertical drive and engine, I put a centrifugal clutch on it and at one point I was able to do wheelies but wasn't very fast. Getting parts around for that and gonna make it do wheelies again lol. These little mowers are super fun cause they small lol. Has a three speed plus rev. I just got a Honda 13hp that I'm really thinking of sticking in there lol.

scratch out the predator, i decided to give a briggs 6.5 off of a pressure washer i got several years ago one more try. i filled it back up with oil and dumped some gas into her and she fired 2nd pull and runs great. i havent gotten anything really done besides stripping it down to bare frame and collecting a few parts. in redzz02 typical fashion ill probably wait until the last month to complete this build lol
