Little fun for the day!

Pavement try. I get too much traction.

1st try was soap, 2nd and 3rd try was with some oil.

In case you were wondering, I had my silencers in the exhaust pipes on the pavement try.

Been some inquiries about if I created custom stickers on the Sasquatch.

I used this paper found on amazon and used my inkjet printer.  Before cutting out and applying, I sprayed clear paint on the paper and let dry.

Took the Sasquatch II on a little road trip today!  Only about 4 miles, but it was pretty fun!  I only encountered 2 cars.  I wonder what they were thinking!  I also encountered one deer that ran across the road in front of me.  I need to make a camera mount while I am driving.  LOL

She looks great mighty! Needs a moon tank on the front though and a slight front end lift hahaha! It would look cool if you painted the letters white on the front tires to match the rears.

Actually I have been toying with a tank on the front. It would be non-functional as the tank on the rear is in good shape. I was actually also thinking of putting a least an inch rise in the front more than what it is now!

I do plan on finishing the white letters on all the tires. I just haven't had the time in the past few weeks to do much with the tractor. :-)

Yeah the fake moon tank on the front would look awesome! It would really add to the gasser look. The front end lift would as well.

Lowered the front axle?

Lowered the axle, raised the front... however you want to look at it.  The difference is a 2.5 inch lift.

I REALLY need to get that steering gear tighened.  The new angle for the steering rod caused it to jump a tooth on the steering gear almost sending me on a tumble when it decided to turn left on me without notice.   Phew!  Glad I was only doing about 10mph.    Overall, still had a decent feel and didn't affect steering going down the road other than that loose gear.  I haven't chipped a tooth yet and I do not want to.  I'll see about fixing that later this week.

LOL, thanks. Now to tackle the steering on this thing. Not much on the front tires to do raised white letters? I do see Loadstar. I could do that I guess. LOL. I'll video my steering issues! It's really really bad. Like Really bad.

What kind of steering? 1st gen setup or the earlier gt steering that's more like 2nd gen? I remember seeing a kid drill a hole through the bolt for his steering and put a grease fitting in the end of it to grease one of the pivots in the steering. Think it was the pivot on the plate driven by the steering pinion. Just an idea

Not sure of the generation, this is a 1990 model GT18.  You can see the setup in the video.

I need 2 bushings replaced.  About $15 in parts plus shipping.  I may be able to get the parts at the local Tractor Supply.  Another option is do what Doug did on his craftsman and do direct steering.  I'll try the bushings first.  They are 27 years old.  

Well, I got it tightened up.  Had to add 3 washers to the mix.  the bushings were fine, it was the plate that had worn a bit as well as the block that holds the 2 sections together.  I had some spindle washers that perfectly lined things up.  Now to put it all back together.  Oh the joy in that.  



Oh, and I added a second nut so things don't back out.

I was not able to do the double nut on the tractor.  It would hit the lift lever shaft.  But that part is pretty stiff now.  The front pivot the tie rods connect to is the part that has some play.  I cannot washer that one to tighten.  There is a minor front axle play that I will tackle this weekend sometime.  I don't feel that it will have enough play to roll me now.  :-) Not much to do minus direct steer or new old stock of that part. Not sure if it has a removable bushing in there or not.

pretty lil tractor brother. Direct steer is great for low speeds, but tends to be twitchy at higher speeds on uneven terrain. for road use. use a larger yoke, for off road, smaller. Yoke size and spindle arm connection length determines turning radius and how much you feel irregularities in the terrain. Smaller for off road means less leverage for the tire to spin the steering wheel and break a finger. Less of a hazard for road means you can have a quicker turn radius, though this too can be hazardous if you get too silly with turning at speed.
