| Thanks man! It's a little thin, but I think it will work ok. May have to reinforce it later or upgrade the part made from the green painted metal. It's old-school 40's 50's era metal from a lateral file cabinet that weighed a ton. Much better quality of metal.
A little off topic for a sec. Had an Idea for the 82 Murray. Maybe a hybrid rat-rod/rally machine? Call it a mud-rod. (maybe a little mad max look) Seeing AllisKidD21's video. I realized if I really wanted to go mudding, I will need a friend. My friends don't have mud machines. See where I am going with this? I also came to the idea, the bigger front and back pulleys like I have on the Sasquatch don't seem to slip at all. I may think about that as well. Just a thought, still in the air about it.

| I think a rat rod rally tractor would be sweet! That trans in the Murray would be able to handle quite a bit of abuse I would think. You'll have to charge your friends though-"Rat Rod Murray Rides- $10/hr" Hahaha!

| They are 14 inch. H70's from days of old. I think in these days would be 235/70-14. Got it out again testing my belt. Still threw it on deceleration. Figured out where it is falling off and why. Unfortunatly I had to move my pulley a little and that took all my slack out and now I need a just slightly larger belt. On the cool side, I did get that speed run in today as I had hoped! 19mph! Not bad as I was only shooting for 15-16. I feel I could inch 1 more mph out of it maybe.

| SO... once I have the belt issue resolved. I have the larger belt now and will put it on. I will test it maybe tonight. Once that works OK, for the contest rules the build will be complete. 1)Must be a small, personal-transportation type vehicle, capable of carrying operator, and not more than one additional passenger. Yep, I have that.2)Must be self-propelled Yep, mine does that.3)Must be powered by an OPE (Outdoor Power Equipment) type engine. Generally- one or two cylinders, 2 or 4 stroke, gasoline or diesel, air cooled*, horizontal or vertical crankshaft, and derived from Lawn mowers, leaf blowers, lawn/yard/garden tractors, pressure washers, portable generators, tillers, cement mixers, weedeaters, leaf mulchers and vacuums, water pumps, etc. *Note: There are a few liquid-cooled OPE engines out there, such as offerings from Honda and Kawasaki. As long as it fits the OPE description, it is allowed, limited to two cylinders. However- MORE than one qualifying engine may be used. Yep, Briggs 16HP from an old Murray lawn tractor installed.4)No automobile, truck, SUV etc chassis allowed. No ATV chassis', nor "Compact Tractor".Allowed are- Lawn tractor, yard tractor, garden tractor and mini chassis’, stock or modified. Custom-built chassis are allowed provided the end result will be resemblant of a lawn or garden tractor chassis in appearance. Specifically, ladder, tunnel, or pan-style. No space frames. Yep, I am using a 1990 Craftsman II garden tractor frame.5)Must run on any number of wheels, tracks, skis, or any combination of these, limited by the following constraint: A minimum of 3 points of contact must be made with the ground, a minimum of two if vehicle is "tracked". Points of contact are defined as wheels, tracks, or skis. Yep, I have 4 tires unless I take turns on 2. 6)Must be "complete" by deadline date. For our purposes, "complete" means- Starts, runs and drives under its own power. Remote throttle must be installed and operable without operator touching engine. Remote kill switch must be installed and operable without operator touching engine. Remote start must be installed and operable without operator touching engine- this applies to electric start only, pull-starting IS acceptable. Braking system must be installed and functional. Steering system must be installed and functional. The purpose of this rule is not only to define completeness for the contest, but to help ensure safety. Paint and related aesthetic touches are not mandatory to qualify as "complete" but may affect scoring. For clarification, "Remote" specifically means "The ability to operate without touching engine". Yep, I start, run and drive powered by Briggs. Throttled by gas pedal, and the keyswitch turns it off. Brakes super well with them big tires on back. Steering is better now than factory. Turns WAY sharper.7)Sheetmetal/bodywork is open. As long as all other rules are adhered to, the vehicle may take any vehicular appearance. Noted...8)Must NOT be more than 50% completed prior to the official start date. Previously completed builds or lightly modifying builds for the contest will not qualify. As part of qualification, contest entrants will post a picture of the major parts source(s), including a sign showing the commencement date and code word. Completeness will be defined by your writeup of what is to be done and by seeing your parts in photos. Done, The majority of my stuff is under the skin. or front end. Parts sources:
- Frame/Body: 1990 Craftsman II Garden Tractor *Free
- Engine: Old Murray lawn tractor *Free
- Engine Repair: Briggsandstratton.com for Gasket overhaul kit *Approx $20, new Sump Ebay $20
- Rear Tires: My Dad's old H70's from his youth *Free
- Front Tires: Northern Tool *$30 each
- Harley Replica Lights: Ebay *$25 each for brake lights, $11 for marker/blinker
- LED Headlights: Walmart *approx $10
- Rear wheel spacers: Ebay $40
- Classified Item: Amazon $15
- Classified Item: Walmart $5
- Nuts/Bolts: Home Depot/Lowes $20
- Copper Pipe: Home Depot $10
- ATLTF stickers Priceless!
I'll post a formal walk around video this weekend if the opportunity arises. So... Does this mean I am finished? Heck no! I will still have SEVERAL months to TWEAK this thing. My updates, however, will become fewer. Later this summer I hope to make a new video reveling the final product. Yay! After that, what is the future of this build? I can't say for certain. I may re-purpose parts for other use.

| You got me thinking CraftsmanQuad19. My suburban throws out a flame in the dark. I was curious if the straight pipes on this build were short enough to throw some kind of flame. Went out and checked, not so lucky. Maybe when it is hot? I dunno. LOL | |

I made a tiny mistake with the tractor. (Hint: under the steering wheel) Simple fix. See if you can spot it in the video! OK, I'll let on. The ammeter was hooked backwards. When I honked the horn it went + instead of -. LOL Fixed a throttle cable issue. When I was doing my 19mph speed run I noticed that once I hit WOT it came back down a hair. Afterwards my petal was a little less springier. I realized my cable slipped. Stretch44875 gave me the idea of using a u-clamp to hold my cable. I didn't do like he did with the welded nut but what I got works well now. See if this thing will hit 20mph now I can keep WOT. Who knows! Raining today so this will be a weekend test.

| Much better throttle response and feeling! No cable slippage. Oh... as for the top speed of this thing? 23, Oh yeah! Gets a bit squirley around 20. Need tighter steering. That little bit of play gets amplified after 20.

| Well, I'm back home now. 0 updates on the Sasquatch II. Last Friday, we took off to Ohio to spend the better part of the week with my wife's 90 year old Grandmother. 1010.8 Miles Drive-to-Drive plus fueling stops and food one way. I'm pretty tired, but I hope to pick up and work on the Squatch II! I have some likes I am working on now. I need to source some parts as well.
I need to mow and check out Li'l Red to see if the shifting issue surfaces again. I also was given a 16hp single cylinder Kohler Command engine that I plan on putting on my Purple People Eater for the daughter. Going to engine pulley swap it and add some lights if it works out.
