Me likey....How many of the pipes will be functional? Will you only run exhaust through one or will you split it up?

I kinda modeled it after a SBC. I will make some chrome valve covers later. All pipes are functional. the fake head is the resonator fed from the engine exhaust. The headers and zoomies can be swapped out by removing 5 bolts and will have a semi permanent RTV gasket.

I might modify the fan shroud to resemble an intake manifold from the side. I dont want to interfere with the cooling too much, so the top will be open.

Thanks for the pic. That gave me an idea. I can do a blown/ injected look with a scoop and not loose any air flow. I can hide the real carb in the belts and pulleys on the front.

1 side is bolted up to get a good mark for cutting angles on the headers. It looks good , but I cant upload pics for some reason. Doing the "host image" thing and the green bar gets to the end , but doesnt get to the insert image part.

I think I am confusing people with the stock exhaust still on the engine. There will be a tube going from the exhaust port to the back of the resonator on both sides.

That ugly angle will get removed. I tacked that on to mount the fuel tank. It has jacked up mounting bolts. I may go with a shop built round tank. The other one looks like crap.

So what your saying about the exhaust is that it will flow into those boxes you made up and out through the mock v8 pipes? Looking nice so far. Pretty cool looking shop too.

Yeah, the exhaust goes to the box. It will require tighter bends than I can do with my bender, so that wil be a challenge.

Yeah you might need to make some relief cuts as you bend

Maybe take a visit to your local scrap yard If they allow you to root through and buy stuff. I saved some table legs that have some 90* bends.
Jeep 4.0 exhaust manifold have some nice bends in them. I had one that was cracked so I chopped it up for the bends to save for a future exhaust.

The other side is going to be the hardest. I have a good angle on the first side, but cant do the same thing on the other and still have good spark plug access. I can do bigger bends and come in through the front. If I paint them black, they may look like heater hose and not be so noticeable.

But you gotta have paint that will stand up to that kind of heat

My concern is, will it make the engine run hotter?

header paint is good to 2000 degrees.

It may add some heat to the engine shroud, but there is cool air blowing between that and the head, so I am not expecting any additional engine block temp increase over a factory exhaust.

The exhaust looks sharp. Curious as to how it will sound.

I hope to have the zoomies finished up this weekend. If I have time I will fire it up and post a vid on here. The audio on exhaust sounds usually doesnt sound like the real thing, but I will give it a shot

Doesnt look like I will get it fired up this weekend. Still not sure what I am going to do on the pipe. The easy way is going to be ugly and wont flow worth a crap. The best way will still be ugly as hell. There is no real good way to do it, but I will come up with something.

welded the flange to the other set of zoomies and the first header. will try to get the collectors and turn out done tuesday.

This thing needs a 1000cc sport bike engine or something!

The frame is intentionally over built for that reason. I may modify it for mud racing in the future. Right now it is gonna be a car show/ cruise night but buggy

1 header is done and tying up the vice waiting for the paint to dry. My wife thinks i need to spend time with her tonight anyway. You would think it is some kind of holiday or something.

I had to bolt it up to see what it looked like. I needed to flip it over to finish painting it anyway.

Sooo... can you make me some headers for my 318?
