| Evening, Surfing through ebay, found this - Transaxle with pressure clutch fittedIt appears to be a Peerless 900/MST series trans fitted with a 'Pressure Clutch' on top of the pulley. Never seen one of these before. Anyone know how these work, what's the advantage of them over a belt clutch?Ride-On-Mower-Gearbox-With-Pressure-Clutch-Fitted

| I imagine it would work the same as a car type clutch. Your v belt wouldn't need a clutch, just would need to be tight all the time. "Real" style clutch like this would be much less hassle than a v-belt clutch setup. Honda liquid cooled lawn tractors have a setup sort of like this from the factory and of course cub cadets are a more popular example. | |

| The trans in my Rat Rod had one of these setups on it. The friction disk was too wore out though, so I had to do away with it. | Interesting. Was that the 600 in your Rat rod or the previous trans?
From the research I've done, it's two friction plates that ride together when the cable is pulled.

| Interesting, never seen a setup like that.
I wonder if it would be prone to slipping when submerged. Head Forum Administrator ** Chat Moderator ** Facebook Page AdminATLTF Facebook Page ** Chatbox ** How To Upload Pictures

From the research I've done, it's two friction plates that ride together when the cable is pulled. Yeah it was on the 600. Kinda wish I'd kept that old clutch haha. I wonder if it would be prone to slipping when submerged. It probably would slip, unless you could stop water/mud getting into the disks somehow. - AllisKidD21 wrote:

Cool, I'm sure it is very hard to find parts for it though. Probably cost the earth to get a new disk or whatever it needed.
