That looks wicked mighty! It looks intimidating, like its pissed off at something hahaha. How well does it fit?

Not too bad actually. I would need to drop my bumper and make a new one. It almost looks like a direct bolt on if I did. I would also have to remove an inner lip on the dash side of the hood. That's about it.

Oh nice! Obviously it's your call, but I say do it! Hahaha, would you paint it to match the rest of the tractor?

I think I will do it.  Yeah I would paint it up.  black and red with some aluminum/chrome accents.  With all the parts riveted (hinge) it will be interesting.  Only minor trimming of the older hood.





I just need to use a couple 1 inch tubes where I had a the bumper attached to attach the older hood.  Tractor is about 2 inches narrower than the older tractor the hood came from.  While I have it around, I need to come up with transaxle plate and some bracing.

Oh, and I can have a much more aggressive full grill maybe, since the whole thing doesn't have to fold forward.

SO... these hoods have riveted hinges. No screws. I haven't had time to study it much yet to see if I can convert to screws, but has anyone had any experience with rivets that are part of the moving parts of the hinge? I've riveted before, just simple jobs. No pictures for the night, but I have some the hood trimmed, and some square tube trimmed and drilled for grill mounting. Just need some bolts.

Couldn't you just drill out the rivets and replace them with the proper size machine screws? There were rivet type things holding the hood and the grille together on the rat rod when I got the hood, when I wanted to seperate the grille from the hood I just cut the heads off of the rivets and popped them out. Not sure if that would work as easy on your setup though.

I was a little concerned, but upon further investigation, I think I can convert to screws. The brackets have enough taper for a screw head.

That's a good looking hood mighty! I'd definitely do it! Looks like there's some room for some good LED pods there too! Gotta love the older hoods. I hate the stock Murray widebody hood. it's pretty big and bulky. Nice if you wanna fit an oppy in there but not so much for looks in my opinion. Oh, and paint is for weenies! The different colors gives em character!

HAHA! I'll shoot it with some paint. Maybe even some custom stickers as well. I am thinking of using the same LED bulbs I did in the Sasquatch II build. Those things are BRIGHT!

Hood is attached.  I am ready to take out the rivets and clean up the paint.

Definately more functional.  Got some screws today for the hinge.  Hope they work.

I just noticed that you removed the bumper. Is that just to have it out of the way while mounting the hood or are you planning on leaving it off?

I had to take it off to mount the grill. It sits much lower than where the bumper was. I'll have to make a new one.

Hood disassembled, wire wheeled and cleaned.  The front grill now has it's first coats of black.

Where's the Autobots magnet gonna go?? Hahaha, should look really good in black and red

I will miss the Superman sticker. Also the "BAM" "POW" ones. :-( HAHA. I have other ATLTF stickers to put on the new "old" hood.

I dunno, I can see a punisher skull painted on the grill with the headlights for eyes...

HAHA! I like that.  On one of the other forums I visit, they call the 1970 sears suburban a "ghost grill";  I personally thought of the punisher with that one.  :-)

Little set back tonight. Shot the red to the grill part. Looked great, then I hit it with the gloss and the black peeled. I'm sanded back up and ready to hit the black again.
