| Hi all. I have the chance to buy a Sears Custom 8 garden tractor. No engine but it is a good rolling chassis. I have a kinda neat idea for the drive system but I am not certain if it would work. I thought about putting in a nice Honda engine in the chassis (I have a 13 horse electric start one sitting here somewhere) and putting a CVT (I think thats what it is called?) clutch on the engine then running a chain drive to the transaxle, just replacing the transaxles input pulley with a sproket. That way I wont have to make a clutch and I can use the engine speed to gain speed or slow down more like you would in a normal car but also I think it would give me much more range of speeds so if I can get the gears set right I can still have a nice low pulling gear then a nice high range for moving quickly. The transaxle is the 3 speed with hi and lo selector making it a 6 speed. What do yall think? Could it work? | |

| Hi, so did you get anywhere with your idea? It would be great if it worked eh I think the Sears Custom 8 is about the same as my Build-Off entry? and your torque converter would be like Doc Sprocket's Diesel Weasel which goes really well so I reckon these clutch things will get popular and used more in the future eh | |

| It should work. The drive shaft would need to be on the left I think, and you would probably need a brake on the trans input so you dont grind gears. Head Forum Administrator ** Chat Moderator ** Facebook Page AdminATLTF Facebook Page ** Chatbox ** How To Upload Pictures
