I'm pretty sure there is a displacement difference actually. I believe the 18hp opposed is a 42 cubic inch model, where as the 16hp is on a 40 cubic inch. Like mighty said though I'm pretty sure the displacement difference came from the stroke. Also how did you get those little knicks in the rod bearing? Haha.

Alright. Flywheel off the 20 horse oppy. Now I can look closer at the crank, and I see some questionable areas. Fingernail catches on these spots... Im gona take some emery cloth to it and see if maybe they will clean up or not.

Gone come out of the block, make a 90*, strait back along the frame and dump out the side.

I didmt get quite as far along as I wanted to... bit the engine is mounted, and the dash is partially mounted.


This engine has a strange bolt pattern, not a simple rectangular one. I wasnt sure how best to do it...
So I made this thing. After lining up the engine, I threaded this down into the mounting tab.


With the weight of the engine, it left a little dimple.


Center punched, and drilled out slightly over 3/8. These bolts will be replaced with grade 8.



This is how the dash, and gas tank will go. I need to make some braces to bolt to the sides of the dash, and then to the frame.



yay me! I did something today!

Sweet deal! That idea with the shaepened bolt for marking the mounting holes is pretty smart, I might have to give that a try sometime, haha.

Cool idea. Things are coming along! Might call the BDG's for this weekend!

Tacked in place, now the dash doesnt fit.    

Looks like that yellow brace would be in the way anyways... Might just move it down... or move it out...

I unno, I might be sick. Or the end of the world has prompted me to try and finish one of these things... ???

This is just the easy stuff... soon as I get to the hard parts Im done.  


Ended up ditching the yellow piece.
Drilled and tapped holes to mount the dash...


Used some existing holes in the dash and drilled some one ones. Holes drilled out to some 3/8ish so there lots of slop  since the tapped holes werent center. Just took a center punch *Wham!* oh thats close enough.


Welding in the gearbox mounting plate. That glove is over 4 years old, fingers blowed out, holes burnt in, and it still serves me well!


No I need to poke a bunch of holes and mount the gearbox! But the looks of things I should have slide the mounting plate back another 1/2in or so... ohwell.
Im not sure how its gona go... the output is offset, so if I centered the box I might run into issues underneath... and If I offset the gearbox, its gona throw off balance... or maybe it will just look kinda dorky.  
Might also be a good idea to make sure its mounted facing the right way...


I didnt mount the gas tank yet as there is a difference in the mounting tabs and the dash support frame.
Thinking about bending some metal up to get it mounted.

Stinks about how the tank came out, but looks like you have good skill to maybe make some triangular pieces to mount it to fill in the gaps.

Made these brackets to get the tank sitting right.... Or atleast, close enough.

Drilled out the mounting holes on the tank... it fits!



I decided to mount the gearbox in the center. Some figuring later I got the holes drilled, and located the hole for the input. Lets hope its right. I didnt find out yet cuz I broke the bit. oops...


The tank ended up sitting further back than I thought it would, that started takign away room for mounting the gearbox. I would have liked a bit more material around the rear gearbox mounting holes. I may weld some reinforcement back there before its all said and done.

The dash above the tankcould be better. I might cut it out and rivet a piece over it. That will give mew a better place to mount the ignition and the rocket launcher firing button.

Well, new drill bit, charged battery... it fits! Barely.


Not sure what happened here... some doofus's math was off. But 4 out of 6 aint too bad.


Next I think will be the front axle.

Nice. Have you decided if you're gonna fab up a front axle from scratch?

I don't know if you have a good round file laying around, but I know you can get all six bolts in. I'm really digging this fabrication work that you've dove into, especially your gas tank brackets. Keep it up!

I could just drill the hole out bigger. Just slap a big washer on the bolt.
