Got it set up. now to set up the rear.









It is sitting on 22" tires.

Looking cool! Are you doing a lifted mower now? How are you going to do the rear axle?

Yeah I am lifting it. The rear I'm leaving, and I'll settle for the frame stance for now, I could lift the frame off the factory mounts, I may end up doing that. I have to figure out steering, I want to do direct steering with handlebars, and a long seat like a big atv.

So will the front be way higher than the rear?

Slightly. I'm thinking I will just use bigger rear tires, like 30"

Would that not maybe break the trans?

No, it is made of cast iron and has 1" axles. I think it will be fine.

Did some work, put the front end back together, set up direct steering, and re installed the dash after a good cleaning. (I found a huge rat nest inside the dash when I pulled it apart) I am now working on the winch. I extended the frame and welded on the trans plate and bolted on the trans. I'm going to use the peerless 100 axle as  a drum to wind cable on. I am going to hook the tranny clutch to the stock attachment clutch and have a light to indicate if the winch is engaged. I may use a craftsman electric clutch and use the engagement lever as the drum brake. I will post a vid soon.



I have a smaller sprocket I will use instead of the one here. I will have one on each side of the aluminum case.

Looking good. Are you leaving the shifting arm for the winch/gearbox as it is or moving it?

Guess you'll have to lock the differential in that axle right? Pretty nice to use since your drum is pretty much already made for you that way.

I just got home from TSC, got a 4" transaxle pulley and a 7" weld on pulley for the motor. I will get pics when I get the trans back in.

Nice! What speed are you aiming for with those pulley ratios?

I'm looking for 45 mph. I got some pics, I used MTD GT rear fenders cause the simplicity ones are too small. The faded red almost matched the simplicity orange. I also got a rolling chassis now and my brakes are set up, and I just need to get my engine pulley welded on, and find a belt and set up the clutch.

Looks like a gasser. I might have missed it, but how did you adapt those wheels on? On my old simplicity trans I just have the bolts through the axle to hold on the rims. Is that what you have too or do your axles have key ways?

This one has 1" shafts with a1/4" key with a c clip to hold the hubs on. I got these tires off a ford LTD, they are snow tires, and they have a 4.5" pattern, which is the same as the stock hubs. I have 5 on 4.5" hub pattern.

I got it up and running, and driving under its own power. I need to build a better clutch though, mine is next to the transaxle and I want one by the engine. I'm also going to go return my 4" TSC pulley, it was a 3/4 bore instead of 5/8 like the shaft. I used a 3.5" pulley I had off an old mower but the belt slipped around it too much.

Well I got a belt on her, and took it for a drive. I didn't dare open the throttle all the way in 3rd. I need to hook up my breaks and my foot/hand throttle, the lever in the dash isn't safe at all.

Yeah 40mph is a bit much! Especially as she is so high. You could maybe lower the front to even out the stance by lifting the shocks up a bit.

Thats what i was thinking. Some shock hoops would improve handling and the looks for sure

Yeah I'm going to try to drop it 4" in the front.

I got some more done on the winch. modded the shifter, cut the hood so it fits, got the drum mounted up, and I'm getting a cable and fairlead from my buddy zsmachines in trade for an oppy starter.

I got the fairlead on and got a real cable on the drum. I just need to run a belt to it and I will be done with that part.

I just have to say that is a awesome freak in mower cant wait to see how it turns out. You will have to let me know
