Alright as some of you know about my best mower that I built before I joined the forum, my Murray select mower that I use for trail riding, goin fast, muddin and pretty much everything. Well the old 14.5hp OHV that I have already swapped on blew up a few days ago it was ported and polished, it has a 6spd manual and a 3in pulley on the rear, did have 22in atv tires that are currently off buy will be goin back on unless I make some new ones, tonight I started the motor swap to an 16hp briggs opposed twin, gonna build exhaust and am pretty much building the mower up better than ever.

Murray's seem like any other 90's mower. One thing is that I haven't heard of them is having front axle issues. You can make any mower good with good tires, strong rear, posi, and a healthy engine and steering.

The front axles are sortof weak and are stamped that's why I put a cast iron one in.

Old axles are very brittle and don't hold up to sgock loads. I've heard of a few cases of them breaking, Stretch could tell you about cracking one.

The fram is what i like the most. Dont like the pan style. I like the old mowers but down here in alabama everbody loves em to. So thay an arm and a leg to by. Ask people if thay wont to get rid of the old mower with the 12ft tree growin up through the fram. Na i wont to fix it up someday. So wam theres a murray fur free
Or cheap at least. Out of the mowers of the time period. Murrays on top in my book.

yeah. it was from a 94. i don't think that the twin came along until 77, so how could you use a 74 coil?

10/4 if you ever need em I'm not using em, both my Briggs oppys have bad rings and I'm too lazy to rebuild em when I have higher hp Kohler twins

Alright so finally today I got it running and driving!
I ditched the oppy plan cause it kept messing up, so I built a 14.5 out of spare parts laying around, and it runs and drives! I swapped the bigger head on it that is ported and polished.
