My son's ride wasn't idling right, so we took a video of adjusting the carburetor.  This works on older briggs carb's with main fuel mixture screw on bottom.

A common problem with these carb's is the butterfly valve wears out the throttle body.  If you can wiggle the idle adjustment screw(a lot), which is attached to the throttle, that means it is leaking air past, and you will have a hard time getting the idle rich enough.  You can turn the idle up, but then it wants to either rev, or die.

Thankfully, this carb is still in decent shape.
