V - 1# Decide how I'm gonna do the steering column. 2# Do the steering column. V - 3# Cut the Hood for the NOS tank, and decide on dash, (Might be a semi dash). V - 4# Cut the hood hinges and modify them, so they don't hit the engine. 5# Make a Custom grill, and cut the front of the frame to fit the grill and Oil Cooler. 6# Weld up some light holders. 7# Cut and flare the rearfender, and weld it. 8# Make mounts for the rearfender, and make the needed hole for the Peerless 700 (if any). 9# Make a hatch for the 700 location, rivets? 10# Receive the 40T sprocket so i can mount the Peerless 700. 11# Bolt the engine down and the rest of the drivetrain, to see if there's room for a "normal" clutch and find the best location for a tensioner pulley. 12# Hook up brakes, decide where the pedal will be located and weld it in, and make linkage for it. 13# Find a suited mounting location for the throttle and choke cables, and mount them. 14# Decide how to do a shifter. 15# Run electronics, and find room for everything. 16# Adjustments. 17# Tweaks. 18# Year 2018 DONE!

Got alot done today: Figured out how to do the steering column, adjusted and cut the hood hinges. Started fab. on the steering column. - Had to re-locate some hoses on the engine aswell to get the hood low enough.
Nope, I didn't stretch it
Also modified the NOS tank, with a filler neck. But didn't dare weld it yet, since the tank is thin steel and the neck is very thick.
After drilling some holes with a step drill bit.
1 Hour Later....
Got the Ackerman Arm Welded (TiG), this is the bottom arm of the steering column if you didn't already know.

I think I'm tilting my steering, I didn't like the bar stool racer feel :Plooks like them bearings will do good.
The bearings are from the front wheel hubs, they came with the 5/8" Bearings, but I use 3/4" size axels so these where leftover. I only use two, on the inside I'll use Bushings.

Once the column was done, a new question came up, how do i fasten it to the frame. - Well I decided making a sort of a bolt down type towards the bottom. I also cut the frame so the column barely touches the engine, this so I can have some tilt in the steering wheel.
Grinded the curve so they weld up snuggly to the column.
Welded (flux) tacked the two mounting tabs to the column.
Then welded some more (TiG). There is tons of ways of doing it, got the column welded up, looks like the steel from bmi OR our our supplier have lots of contaminaiton in it, (well it can be that but it can be many things). Since i got some bubbles in the welds.
One Tough Steering Column.
I like the tilt in it, - Now I gotta decide how to do the top re-inforcement square tubing, many ways to do those to. Tho I need to make sure they clear the engine, gas tank, oilfiller neck and rearfender.
Also got some tiny square tubing (the one in the bottom left corner) but I wont trust that thickness as MAIN support.
But it will be nice as a finnishing touch and to fab the dash and gas holders.
I also widened the grill(the drawing), so it will directly bolt on to the hood thingy.
All this was a good days work, I started @ 10, went home just over 7. - Tho Thinking and Coffee took some time too, Until next time, Thanks 4 Watching!

Nice. It would probably take me forever to make up a steering system and it still probably wouldn't be right. It's nice to work with clean new metal, I'm used to some bubbles (or worse) working with the cheap stuff that they use to make bed frames. Funny how you go along for a half inch with no problem, then you run into a bad spot and your weld is all messed up. I guess it just has to do with where the impurities end up when they form the metal.

Wether its new or not is beside the point, good quality steel is a blast to work with yea :p
When you TiG, and run into impurities it eats the wolfram tip up, so you have to re-grind it. (Thats Annoying).

Been thinking about Exhaust! Dual side pipes is a must! - for Sound, but maybe not that good for the Engine, so I'm thinking of copying myself like i did on the craftsman Exhaust.
- Make a center pipe, maybe from the Square tubing that I used to build the CM frame and this one's Front axle, then let the side pipes protrude from the ends and down under the footboards. - Square tubing to get that sound, or rectangle tubing is probably the correct word for it, correct built it should cancel out the high pitched tones, giving me a low rumble!
