seems to me you just pop a hole in the dash, wire to the negative on the battery, wire to the positive on the battery. may want to throw a switch in so there isnt a constant draw on the battery

Piece of cake, basically what Will said. I ran mine through the ignition switch so it's not always on. Many of our keyswitches have an unused positive terminal on them.
Just find a way to wire it so it's not on all the time. If you have an anti-afterfire solenoid on your carb, take the (+) off of the same source, as it only recieves power with the ignition on.
