I replaced the clutch pulley on my new to me sears ss16, the one on it was an aluminum pulley with a brass bushing, no wonder it locked up almost instantly I will have to get a new belt, the one on it is way to short with the right sized clutch pulley on it, I wonder if I can put the 4" pulley I have on the transaxle, it's a standard 5/8 keyed bore, i don't know what the transaxle input shaft is or what the stock input pulley size is for that matter, looks to be around a 7" but I can't be sure.

I've decided on how i'm going to fix 2 projects with one solution, 1st is the baby toro hood where it's cracked and has a hole, 2nd is the dash of the sears ss16, i'm going to buy some fiberglass sheet and resin and use that to go over the entire dash then sand as needed and paint, for the toro hood i'll just cover the hole and reinforce where it's cracked, then do the same, fiberglass should be plenty strong for the dash, stronger than the brittle 42 yr old plastic is, and besides I don't have 60+ dollars for a replacement that may or may not be in good shape when I get it

sometimes I feel like a teenager, just can't make up my mind, decided to keep the murray widebody as a mud mower, for backup and when I want to ride something other than the sears, so i'm putting it all back together before I continue work on the noma/murray hybrid build, chassis is completely back together, just have to put the body, wiring and engine back on, also going to have to pull the transaxle and seal it up since it's leaking around the case

Just getting ready for TTC (top tractor challenge 2019). Hoping to have new rims and tires on it and some form of working brakes done by then. Need to also solve my belt slipping issue that happened on my last ride I went on.
Well I got the rear fenders off tonight and getting ready to address some if the issues from the Top Tractor Challenge. Hopefully after this I'll have no more belt slipping issues and I found out that i broke a front transaxle mounting bracket so I'll fix that too.

i ran the beast off the ramps as i was unloading it today because i need to use my trailer to pick up another mower. But didn't get a pic. cause when you live in a small town you don't want one of the neighbors to see what happend or every body hears about it LOL. (i didn't fall off though) !!!
Today? I added a FMF and an All Balls sticker for a 5hp gain Last week I hooked up a push handbrake to the old deck height lever. I got some Carlisle snow hogs for the front but they came in so misshapen I need to order tubes
On the Rat Rod project: - cleaned the carb and ran the engine. - drove it and tested the transaxle, all 6 forward and one reverse gears work. - slimed the rotten rear tires, hoping they will hold for the build - installed new gas lines and shutoff valve - neutered the carb solenoid
This is just a bandaid for the time being till I finish my set of wheel hubs. Or I might save those hubs for another project and just buy some aftermarket wheel hubs for this craftsman. I can't make my mind up yet on what I need to do. But I do know I want to get rid of the slop out of the factory wheels (rear). This should do it.
