does anyone know if the camo winch from harborfrieght is waterproof or not http://www.harborfreight.com/camouflage-12-volt-3000-lb-capacity-wireless-remote-controlled-portable-winch-with-roller-fairlead-95912.html i got it a couple weeks ago and have it on my monster mower but because of complications with the chain im not really taking it off road so i want to put it on my mudder but it will be completely covered in mud and sometimes submerged in water so if any one knows please let me know

Ive often wandered this about a winch. Nae doubt mine would get soaked too.

Try mounting it under the seat. And have an access panel in the rear like I have on mine. Im hoping that'll stop it getting pooched real quick

I believe the selenoids and "guts" of the winch electronics are in the switch in that winch. So as long as you keep it dry you should have no problem. I mean, it's meant for an ATV, probably the whole deal is waterproofed.

It seemed most the reviews on that winch wernt very good- describing bieng underpowered and one said his actually rusted just being outside uncovered.

Best bet is to make a waterproof box for it if its going to be in mud and water.

I have this winch and no it is not waterproof. I need to build a new switch for it because the remote's are junk..

by any chance would you know how to waterproof it?

WELLLLL other than going through the whole thing and replacing all the seals and making new seals you can buy one or you can use a manual boat winch..
