I might be paranoid, but Id like to see some protection on the front tie rod. Not fun to hit something a distance from your home, and have to tote the front end home because the wheels bend inward.

progress is slow. I have been selling a few things on ebay to finance some parts. i have a nice set of clean carbs, ignition coils, rear sprocket, and a rear brake disc that i hope will be big enough. I have got part of the wiring done, and a dash mocked up with some quarter inch ply wood that i will cut out of some stainless sheet later on. I still need to get a chain and a idler sprocket for the chain tensioner. managed to pick up some spark plugs and some orings that i was needing from the parts store yesterday. This thing is getting close to take off, just need to finish up the axle, do a couple of things to steering, machine hubs for the brake disc and sprocket. Then i will be able to brace the frame up. later on today i will have a special surprise posted.

I am in the process of beefing every thing up. the front wheels on it now have bushings and i plan on going to good high speed bearings. The front spindles seem pretty tough and i have tried to make them tougher.
Also to add bit of an update i have made ignition coil mounts and new hinges for the hood. I also had to modify the hood in order to clear the coils.
I starting to think i am stuffing ten pounds of poop in a five pound bag, im running out of room for things and keeping it looking as close to a stock mower.
I know i said i was going to get a special surprise posted the other day but the weather has not to good around here lately. So as soon as i can get out and not piss off the neighbors (HINT) i will get a quick video made.

Not to worried about the tie rods, dont really have any plans of getting it out in the woods. Between lowering it and the exhaust ground clearance is pretty low.
Rmeber me saying some thing about a video, HERE YA GO.

Thanks guys, i was just barely hitting the throttle in that video. I have been very reluctant on getting it running cause thats when i get really excited and start cutting corners to get it done. So far i have kept from it, i dont want nothing but perfect (or as close as i can get it). The steering is rock solid, i have really built the steering to the point of overkill, but thats never a bad thing.
I am shooting for a total sleeper with this thing, i have people walk right by it and never give it a second look.

did some thing today i always wanted to try. Wrapping a header a. I wanted to do it on a dirt bike i had but never did. I wrapped the header to the SS Craftsman since the header is so close to the plastic grill and to keep some of the heat out from under the hood. Its a pain in the butt i will tell you that, and don't do like i did and do it in shorts. I got stuff on my legs and now they kind of itch since its fiberglass cloth. Went through almost a 50 foot long role of the stuff.
I also have it all tore down, i am bracing the frame up and finishing all the welding. I hope to have that done this week.
You can see alot of the bracing i am doing, i ran out of tube so i will have to grab anouther stick.

This mower is probally one of the most badass mowers in my book, your like making my dreams come true. a mower that isn't over the top, and has a screamin motor.

Thanks guys i am glad you like it. I am putting alot of time and attention to detail in to this thing. Some one ask me about it every day, there is a bunch of pepole that cant wait to see it done. I even had some guys from Sears tell me i needed to bring it over to the store when its done.
I have started making some youtube videos detailing every thing i have done as i put it back together for the last time. I figured that if any of you or any one else ever wanted to do a build like this could have bit of a reference to go by to help out. This has been a challenging and complicated build, and i would love to see others give it a go and maybe i can help them out with some of the headaches with the videos i am making.
This is the first 2 videos i have made so far, im going to try to get another up tomorrow.
