Heres my idea. instead of being stranded with a broke belt. why not find some rope that's strong enough to use to drive back home.
i realise you'd have to put a knot in it, but that wouldnt really matter would it? Just throwin' this out there

Wouldnt work. Belts are designed to grab the V sides for traction. A rope would have a very slim traction point. Also, the knot will hit every retainer it tries to go by, and you can forget about it going past the clutch.

You would be better off buying a spare belt. Youre gonna need one anyways if your belt breaks, might as well as have it on hand.

Yeah Doug is right the knot is the probolem

Like said, rope isnt the same as a V belt.

Industrial size (Im sure SOMEBODY MAKES IT) Paracord....or Nylon rope think enough so you could melt the ends together...no idea how that'll hold up to abuse though.

There are pulleys for round rope profiles. But like I say above, it's the knot that's the problem.
