| I just joined and am looking to pick up some riders to miss around with. Are their certain manufactures or models that have better frames, transmissions, etc...
Thanks | |

| ive only used craftsmans because they are decently built, easy to mod, and cheap. but, what you want to have, even if something is bad like the frame is weak or the tranny is crappy, you can fix all that, so basically the best is what you can get

| I'd say check what's available in your area since I know nothing about the brands yet.
Tho an old school tractor is without doubt more rugged built. But the availablefor parts might be hard to get, so...
And from a technical view and the shear availability I think the easy MTD's is also preferred by many. | |

Anything Murray is what you want. That includes Craftsman. Head Forum Administrator ** Chat Moderator ** Facebook Page AdminATLTF Facebook Page ** Chatbox ** How To Upload Pictures

| My original was an MTD, and the frame was crap. After reinforcing it several times with angle iron, the frame finally stopped cracking every year. Now that old beast has been scrapped (*sniff* I loved that thing), I have a craftsman that has a way better frame. If you're planning on building a subframe or only lightly romping it, an MTD will do fine. If you are going to be very rough on it like me and my friends are on ours, get something else. | |
