MTD= Mudding Tractor Domination (aka my tractor)

This is my mtd shortly after i got it.

The first mod i did was four wheeler tires on the back

As you can see here I love to mud it and beat the piss out of it

After a very abusive romp I look at the back and say that the wheels had some extra camber

I Looked underneath and this is what i saw. A cracked transaxle casing. I didnt romp for 3 months after.

Luckily i found a replacement and had it back together in no time

A romp i did in my driveway

I took the hood off just to try something new


Still on the to do list- Bigger tires, Locked transaxle, bumpers



I will put more pics up when more things have been done to it. If you have any suggestions please feel free to tell me.

Thats a good start.
You should mount a foot throttal on it.

Some shocks, springs or stoppers in by the front axle will make steering at speed a lot better. And youll tip a bit slower.

The foot throttle is on my list i have every thing i need for it except the spring and thats $3 down at tractor supply

hopefully tomoorrow i will get to work on it more i will have pics and updates asap

Sweet! Is it a Vari drive? That looks like a FNR gearbox.

Yes it is a Vari-Drive. Thats probably the one thing i dont like about my tractor

Ya no one likes that. It's not too hard to swap in a different gearbox. I'm looking to sell two hydrostatic transaxles!

id rather have vari drive than hydro . hydro is the one thing i hate more than vari-drive

Hmm. They're nice to drive. Can't be pulley swapped and can be noisy, but same for vari.

hydros just have that horrible whine to them i cant stand that lol

all i need for my travtor now is a startter and it will be ready for the mud or snow depending whats on the ground

Ok sounds good.
Take some pics when you do take it on a romp.

The only reasons I'd want a hydro is if I wanted to put insanely huge tires, or make some kind of tank or crawler. Other than that, I like the shift type transaxles.

YES I'm having engine troubles so I may miss mud season! D:

so i find out my engine is pretty much blown so while i find a new engine i will hopefully be able to find a second better tractor im planning on a craftsman and im trying to do this fast soo i can be ready for the mud

i think, if i get it, i will put in a almost brand new 14.5 briggs engine. i currently have a 12.5 so not only will it fix my problem but upgrade it too

I have a whole bunch of extra engine parts, want any? The prices are really fair, I just need to get rid of them!

what you got for front end tires good and can they hold air

im set. im currently tearing down a 14hp briggs twin that came out of a 87 montgomery ward.

i am using stock tires and so far they work fine

Ah I want one of those engines! My 87 Montgommery ward is runnin on a 12hp that doesn't run right.
