| Ok so after finding out that my yard machine with vari drive is not a candidate for lifting without finding a peerless trans, i looked onto my neighbors pasture and he has 3 mowers that might be better a choice for lifting. Wanting to copy a parade mower like Firemans mower, of the 3 all are craftsmans first is model 917.270821 42in automatic, second is a model 917.270412 hydra 6sp, and a model 917.255960 gt6000 6 sp. All have blown motors, so i am looking for free advise here, many thanks! | |

| Any of those will work really. If you intend on using it offroad I would go with the 6 speed. The hydros would be best for a parade crawl. Head Forum Administrator ** Chat Moderator ** Facebook Page AdminATLTF Facebook Page ** Chatbox ** How To Upload Pictures

| Hydros dont seem to get much interest on mostly anything modd related, Havent seen any automatic transmissions on here either unless your refering to the shift on the go transmissions....and the 6 speeds have a pretty good gear range | |

| I have been following fireman build and am wanting to emulate that. I am getting an education on this stuff. i was sorry to find out about the vari drive and looking for peerless trans. i am wanting to keep the speeds on this thing and i am starting to mass up some parts looking into hubs rims and tires, i founda set of atv tires 25x10x12 and looking to find affordable 12 in rims | |

| you said the last one is a gt6000? id use it, the gt stands for garden tractor, it should have 1" axles on it, the you could mount fourwheeler hubs to it easy | |
