| I've wanted to do that for a long time.. diesel engines are pretty expensive, even the air cooled c hina ones. Cant find any used ones for cheap.
I really want to puit a smalla 3cyl diesel into my MTD. Its got 1" axles and a side input on the cast iron tranny. So all I'd need to do shaft drive it to a RAGB and away I go! Gotta be a turbo though, gotta have some smoke!

Whats the price for that one u posted ncredleg? Still trying to reach the contact person. The description states that Less Than Minimum quantity can be ordered . I requested the cost for a sample engine with associated paperwork. We`ll see what they say. Russ

| Diesels i think would be too hard to install on a tractor- youd need a fuel pump, probably a computer to run it? Think about the torque tho- dang.
Ive seen motorcycle engines on tractors- those are super fast. At a tractor pull once i saw chevy V8 motors on some cub cadets- - those were wicked sick. There used to be this one video on YT - some automotive college put a 350V8 on a john deer, with the deck and the stock hood- looked almost like a factory job.
Itd be neat to put a small car motor on a tractor- find one with a trans and rear axle ( toyota or something). Best bet for something like that is get a couple different rear axles with appropriate ratios to either run on tracks or offroad.
Years ago i always wanted to put a 302 V8 small block in my arctic cat eltigre - never got around to it tho....

A little geo metro engine and trans is what i would do, they come in a 1.0 3 cylinder And a 4cylinder but i'm not sure what size. My dad had a 3cylinder one and he loved it, and the over 40mpg part! |

| Reading this post I really wished I never got rid of my Dads Cadillac Fleetwood, My Dad didn't want to see it anymore so we sold it for the price in scrap and all it needed was a starter and fuel lines(when we took it off the road but it sat for 2 years so it probably neeeded alot more). He got $250 for the car and it was a V10(not sure but it was a beast and looked different because it was a FWD), It had $400 aluminum rims(scrap price). It would of been sick dropping that into a lawn tractor...I guess you would be putting the body panels onto the engine instead. No one could complain about gas mileage except for you then. | |

| if you cant find a powerful diesel engine there is one engine that Briggs has that will rape a diesel any time. Briggs makes a 22hp vanguard v-twin and Charlotte motor speedway (i think) buys them and puts a big bore kit onto them, oil tamp and pressure gauges, and adds about 8 hp. i dont know the tork but will push over 900 pounds with a centrifugal clutch. they can run 7000 rpm but better off limited at 6000 rpm to save them. these engines used go for 1800$ or new for 2500$. i have two and the old used one is better. im planing on building a go cart thats only 100 or less pounds. im 200 ish so with a comet clutch well you could guess... | |
