Comet CVT 780 and Driven 770, Driven supposed to be mounted like that, also it should "float" on the Jackshaft. The driver shall not! And will be flipped.



Here's the latest Engine and Jackshaft mount, hopefully also the final CAD of this.
Now the biggest hole will have room for the Driven 770 Unit aswell as some belt tension adjustments.

Got this in the mail today, so i got one spare to make it either Turbo ready or dual Carb ready.

Turbo? Ive thought of doing one but I don't know of a turbo small enough. Smallest one ive seen was in a i4 Mitsubishi

No there is small ones out there, like a soda can in size. So small an Opposed could use two.

New shifter design! Kinda the same but had to scale it up to twice as the first one i drew.

Got the Solenoid and Coil in the mail today, the stupid waterjet isnt fixed yet

Im not sure on your vehicle laws on the other side of the pond, but it would be awesome to see if you could get this registered.

Not a chance in H€%| for that here. Not even as a tractor id bet and it would cost alot of money.

figured i would show you this turbo that is on a 42Hp Kubota 4 cylinder diesel engine that i have.  I set a soda can on top of it to give you and idea how small it is.

That's sweet. And Kubota is a kickass Japanese diesel.

Finally some progress
I got the Engine and Jackshaft mount cut today.

Got it tack welded today, so far so good.





Also had to grind the inside of the frame where the Comet Driven Unit will rotate.

In your latest video-did you say you were making a bottom plate for this? or is that 5mm top plate the only thing?

Yea there will be one thicker on the bottom.

Yeah Thunder... absolutely beautiful and well thought out. Excellent engineering for sure. Maybe you can answer just one question for me about it... how heavy do you think it'll be when done? Really curious about that aspect...

Thank you! And not really any heavier than another stock one. But not sure yet.

The 820 peerless is pretty heavy.
The Briggs Opposed is pretty heavy.
The Jackshaft / CVT pretty heavy.
And the front suspension system will also be pretty heavy.

The frame and mount might look heavy but its not.

But there should be no slippage when done so will be fun to see how heavy it will be.

I thank you for answering. It just dawned on me so I asked, and with all the metal work being added it just seemed it would be rather stout once fully assembled. Difference in preference perhaps but I would not want to have it gain weight... but lose it.

No problem and yeah I want it light and fast aswell. But remember this is the prototype so to speak. It will be easy if it works as planned to produce another one and make it lighter and tweak it.
