| have you seen the video with the kid that had the 4wd mower w/stacks, vtwin, and paddle tires on the back! im wondering how that all works. like you need a belt to the front, and a new clutch system just for the front right? Seems like a nightmare | |

I was drooling over the one on youtube, so i cant wait to see what this will be like. Where can you get a aws axle? I was thinking that you might have to lift it like 2" or something to fit all of this underneath it | |

Ive been going over a design lately, something to complete the monster mower project next year (this one has taken me a year so far as it is) and I'd have two identical transaxles, both with extended (and braced) axles. Then, I would mount front in a way that it can pivot nearly like normal steering, except the whole housing. I'd do it in a way that would allow me to leave it in 1 gear (say... 3rd) and just do it up that way, or a servo controlled shift to go up or down (or neutral) as needed. Put not one but two electric clutches, one for the engine and one for the front end. Similar in concept to one of those chevy colorado trucks... electric transfer case, electric diff in the front. So I can scoot down easy terrain in 2wd, or hit the clutches, shift accordingly and go for it. Could in theory make it FWD that way as well. Still rounding up parts for it though, used a ton on the current build. |
