| This is just another project with no purpose but to waste time. What I plan to do is deepen the oil pan on a B&S 10HP because I can. No real reason besides that. And after that I will install an external pump/filter that picks up from the bottom of the pan, runs it through a cooler and returns it maybe to the top of the crankcase to help with lubrication. Again, this has no real reason except to waste time and maybe turbo. Did I say turbo? You didn't hear that... Now for the guinea pig tractor: If there is one thing I try and do with my projects, It's keep them suprising! | |

| THIS is the kind of stuff I want to see. Imagine what you could do with a full pressure system.
These little motors could last forever.
Mind you, they last nearly forever with a splash system too.
Although I still want to see it.

| Try to fit in a swappable filter as well.
Clean oil is better than pressurized oil all the time.
Cooler Cleaner oil will help these little beasties live long lives.
Air cooled engines, like liquid cooled engines, are not cooled by the air/coolant alone.
Oil temparature has a large effect on engine temparature, as does the temperature of the incoming air/fuel charge.
Colder air is denser, making more power with the right tuning.

| Yes of course it's a swappable filter. A Fiero is a car. The part I was talking about is a re-locator plate because SBC 350 motor oil filters won't fit against the engine cradle. Therefore, this. And yes, I understand basic engine tuning. | |

| cant wait to see this, ive been thinking of doing something like that to my Honda Clone motor just to be able to run a turbo but there isnt a small enough turbo that would spool up quick enough for it to be worth while putting on. | |

| Figured out the parts I shall be using! Pump: SHURflo On-Demand Diaphragm Pump — 1 GPM, 60 PSI, 12 Volt, Model# 8009-541-236 http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_357081_357081It says it's not meant to be run continuosly but I have a few modifications to make to allow it. The oil pickup filter is off of a GL1000 motorbike. The actual radiator bit is a aluminum 30" transmission cooler. Then the rest I either already have or have to custom make. Oh, that and a bunch of little fittings and hose. Will start modification of the crankcase soon. | |

| Well, I would have really liked to do a electric pump so I could turn it on an off any time and have it cool the engine after a ride when it's shut off but I feel as if I have already spent too much on this project. It was 60 for the cooler, 10 for the pickup and the new and final pump, 36 dollars. I thank JunkStar for giving me the idea of a motor scooter oil pump.

| some engines already have full pressure lube, i know twins do, and some large singles. my 20 Horse had full pressure lube. | |

| Some twins have full pressure lube, not all. I have an opposed 16.5HP B&S and it is splash lube. | |

Yes, that's why I said i'm deepening the oil pan.

| Why not run a cooler like a refriderator has? Keep the oil nice and cool...But the weight... | |

| Sounds like a good idea. How do you plan on making the pan deeper. | |

I like the way this cooler looked. - truckin42 wrote:

How do you plan on making the pan deeper. Cutting a hole and welding a box.

| I had a better idea. If you are going to run a pump and cooler, why not spend the time and plumb the inside and do a dry sump system. You would have to run two pumps and a external tank. I'm thinking of doing this on a 15.5 kohler ovh flat. | |

| Now I have a question why can't you get a oil cooler from a Chevy,Ford or,Dodge and mount it on top of the motor above the flywheel for the cooling? It would be cheaper and easier to fix if something happens. | |

Too much work. Maybe in the future but right now this is just a side project. Most of my money/time is going into big cat. - Ariens YT11 wrote:

Because I liked the way this cooler looked. Eventually I will expand and have one cooler on each side running down the frame rails. And this is just my guinea pig tractor for ideas, Not doing any off-roading with it.
