Well guys I have decided to join a gokart build off on diygokarts.com. Basically I want to take the engine from the front to the rear building a custom clutch and brake. Doing a pully swap on the motor and tranny to hit around 20 mph. Then cut the whole thing in half and weld up a rider cocpit to lower the center of gravity then cut the front solid axle in half and make those into A arms for the front with direct stear. When i am done other then maybe the rear fenders. It will look nothing like a Lawn tractor.
Think I am crazy and skilled enouph to pull it off Well stay tuned to find out cause im taking it to a whole new level!!
Heres a video of the mower I found to cut up
A video explaining everything visually will be out this weakend Just before the cutting torches and grinders get to have fun.

Im building a 'go kart' out of my 80's MTD wizard - inital setup is 6" rims, custom spindles and straight rear axle, 4" ride hieght - using a horizontal shaft 6.5HP greyhound motor, go kart clutch and chain to the back - my future upgrade is getting my 20HP onan horizontal shaft going or find another horizontal shaft motor - be a lowered screaming tractor.

I say with the welder in a grinder anything's possible! From what you're describing it sounds like you're going to build a custom lawn mower version of a Honda Odyssey. Should be pretty neat!
Sorry for the lack of work on this project guys. My son and i got a 50.00 yardmachine we got up and running and drove it around just to have the stupid thing blow a headgasket and have to put it right back in the garage.
Hopefully will get to work on welding reinforcements and cutting out and moving the engine base plate soon.
thats a cool comcept. the one thing i dont like about rear engine mowers is tht fact tht you sit on top of everything which means a higher center of gravity. with your design yoh have almost eliminated tht problem.
