What you guys think about this pulley ratio

i just got an 84 murray 11 hp briggs synchro balanced motor...ill get pics eventually probably a build topic of it. got her runnin today and swappped pulleys... did a 4.5 inch on the front and 1 7/8 on rear...lol got to gear 3 and the rear pulley actually split right in half! So tomorrow ill be gettin a 3 inch for the rear and an 8 or 9 inch on the front! what do you guys think about that for pulling and top speed?

3 rear and 8 front isnt really going to give you torqe ur going to want like a 1 to 1 ratio like a 4in front and rear

If you intend on using it for speed and offroad you will need a 1:1 ratio. A 6" rear and front pulley would be great for that. Otherwise if you go with anything over a 1:1, like a 2:1 or a 3:1, you will need to do more extensive mods to have good belt tension and reinforce the mower body, as well as redo the entire steering to handle speed.

Go with a 1:1 if you dont want to do the work or if you want multiuse.
