Hello lawn tractor builders and users! I am in NY. I want to be a user more so than a builder. I think I need strong and agile more than fast. I am here to ask some questions about lawn tractors and terrain, maybe see what's do-able. -Jim

Dropping a note to say HEY from Grand Rapids and to bring Keizer out of the shadows to show you what this Little Cub Cadet 122 can do. See you Aug 17-18 at the tough tractor contest. If you would like to see a few close ups the build located on Facebook under Cleetus Joe. Look forward to hearing from you all.

Hi from UK Yorkshire. Have found this forum amd hopefully can get some help I have mechanical skills as it in the family. Have just aquired an ariens YT1138. With it seems to be a Briggs 18hp twin opposed. It's a half finished junk pile at present but am slowly getting it running. Lots of mods will be needed and ideas.

Wow, the UK! Welcome! Where is Yorkshire? In Europe? Or in the UK itself? I've had to study the world last year for a school project, I don't remember Yorkshire so it's kind of annoying.
Got horses and needed a small yard tractor and Yorkshire is in UK Humberside is exact location look up Humber bridge but not crime rate lol it's full of chavs. And as for annoying only to get parts for an American engine without paying over priced dealership or shipping costs. Like a new coil I need will cost me double either way I do it.
00:51:30 Thanks for having me, I've just started my first mower build. I'm an electrician by trade but have loved tinkering and hot-rodding all of my life. My 15 year old son wanted to build a romper, so now I'm learning as much as I can absorb from reading (lurking) around here. We live in S.E. Kansas and while we have been enjoying the new project, its proved to be more difficult to source parts and first-hand info than I'd hoped. _ We've started out with 2 (freebie) MTDs, so I'm learning the vari-drive system as well as everything else that goes along with a build. Thanks for all of the great things I've picked up so far and the things I still need to learn.

hey all! my name is logan, i am 13 years old, i am a backyard wrencher, and yes i would say my mechanical skill is MUCH more advanced then the the average 13 year old and maybe even adult. i live in virginia ( east coast ) in america, my mower is a 1999 mtd opposed cylinder, it was originally automatic tranny, but converted it to a single speed tranny, and used the old PTO as a clutch, so therefore i had to get 4 1/2 inches of spacing to make the tranny be in line with the bottom pulley on the shaft. right now it still has stock tires, i would like to get some offload tires, the only other mod i did was lights, front back and sides, all put together is 8000 lumens i currently have a pulley on it that is bit smaller on the rear, it now goes about 15mph it still has stock steering, and yes i am well aware stock steering is dangerous, but for now all I've done to the steering is tighten it up, I'm still working on it...
but i would like to build the motor with all billet aluminum performance parts, an maybe let the motor get 6000 rpm without it self-destructing, i have also done some research on parts to put in the motor, i know they are out there but would like a kit that comes with everything, and was wondering if you guys might be able to help me find these parts as for i am having trouble, if someone does, i will supply the engine model numbers for you so it will be easier. other than that, i am excited for what is yet to come, with you guys and my mower. hopefully somebody will read this and help thank you -logan

Hi, Thanks for allowing me to join. I am a 71 year old retired Tool and Die Maker, retired Fire Chief of an all Volunteer Department, and currently serving my 38th year on the local Rescue Squad. My Father ran a part time lawn mower shop when I was a wee boy and I grew up tinkering with them. I have made several projects with mower parts, constantly rebuilding them. My biggest project has been a 12.5 hp Kohler vertical shaft to a Peerless Hydro, with homemade frame for a deer retrieval unit. It has worked out very well but I blew the transaxle on a hard pull hill on top of a log. So I am in the rebuild stage currently and looking at options before I begin.
