| hi! i am biggasmowers!very new to this forum but have fixed/modified mowers for 6-7 years. i currently have 6 mowers in various conditions . i just recently got a Dynamark 1036 and am refurbishing it and modifying it for an off-roading tractor. I have a 2003 Murray with modified 14 Hp kohler engine and modified drive train and altered turf savers, it hits about 25 mph and has good handling . Then there is a Craftsman yts 2000 with a solid 48" rear axle and 22" itp mud lites and an ungoverned 18.5 hp briggs oppy with racing air filter on a snorkel for deep water,i have completely submerged it , it had a peerless gear box transmission that blew the imput bearings . There are a few other mowers but going on would take a few pages . I do like this forum so-far ! | |

| Subject: Newbie in Gaston south carolina, hello everyone January 4th 2017, 1:20 pm | |
| Hello everyone, my name's Stephen from Gaston SC. I'm very new to the mower world with first hearing about it last year when my son told me he wanted to build a mud mower. Last summer was our first attempt only lifting the front of a mower and my son lost interest. So ever since I've been wanting to do one and picked up a 1979 Sears gt16 I have recently started myself. I've got the original craftsman cast iron engine up and running, welded up an exhaust stack,Pretty good size lift, added ATV shocks up front, badlands 2500 winch, 12" light bar, sitting on 35" BFG mud terrains. I've got plenty left to do and figure out like shift linkage, upgrade the steering setup to electric, lock the rear end(prob should of done that first),the list goes on,glad I found this site for all the helpful info and to see everyone else's creations. Hope to meet some people in my neck of the woods that enjoy the same stuff, thanks | |

| Hello everyone I'm new to this forum and I god into mower mods and mud mowers just a short while ago so I picked up a very old sears Ride on mower at the scrapyard for 25$ without an engine. I soon after realized that It is very hard to just buy an engine for cheap so I went and got a Husqvarna LT130 mower witch was only missing a battery for 100$ at an auction. It is a great little mower and I plan to do many mods to make it a mud mower. Just the other day I gave the front a lift and the back a body lift. I am very interested in getting suggestions and ideas off this forum. Thanks.

| @muckmudd Welcome! Harbor freight has 212cc Predator engines you can get for about $100. They power a lot of sears nowadays. | |

| If you are wanting a little more speed 1 to 1 is nice. Just get a 3 inch or so for the back. Are you doing a mudder or a racer? | |

| I'd say 1-1 too, but I'd put a 5" on the front and the 5" on the rear, that way the belt won't slip. | |

| I like a 5 inch front to 4 inch rear. Any smaller and you’re fighting belt slip. Much larger and you might run into clearance issues | |

| Well, I have a 6 in the front and a 4 in the back, but I'd recommend a 1:1 for what he wants. | |

| Isn't it fairly tricky to remove the engine pulley? I can't do it on my mud mower the bolt is so stuck on. | |

| Gotta find a way to lock the engine. I jam a flathead screwdriver in the flywheel starter ring, but on an OHV just take some nylon rope, pull the spark plug, and feed as much rope into the cylinder as you can. When the piston comes up it’ll lock and you can pull that bolt without hurting anything. I recommend a clean rope though lol | |

| If you have an impact gun it should just just zip the bolt off without spinning the engine.
