| Alternators are designed to survive getting wet... not so sure about mud though. | |

| Alternators have bearings though, if mud made it inside those bearings it could quickly mess them up.
Metros are awesome little cars. They're the unofficial car of the coalminer around here, cheap and 50 mpg haha. Have you ever seen a subaru justy? It's basically the same car as a metro, but 4wd. The only justy I've seen in person had a belt CVT automatic transmission, like a golfcart or snowmobile.

| Id of went for a higher output alternator - might want to upgrade your battery as well with a serious stereo .
Im running a 1000CCA battery, amp kit and all sony explode speakers n stereo plus a 1000 watt amp to push my 2 10" subs behind the seat - i have a pair of 18" MTX subs , but they wont fit behind the seat.... last time i had to replace the alternator i went with the higher output one.

| Auto parts store - or ask where youre getting yours fixed now - see if they can upgrade it.
There were multiple output alternators availible for my truck at the autoparts - i went with the highest one - it was almost $200 tho, but compared to the ford dealers price of $500 for the alternator alone it was a better deal.
The guy told me it was $500 for the alternator and i was like " Is it made from solid gold or something?" - labor ran about $80 an hour extra.
I bot the alternator from the autoparts, a special deep 15MM socket , a new serpentine belt and a new battery for just under $400.

| Looks pretty cool, how much did it cost for the carpet? Now would be the perfect time to fix any rust in the floor of the car if you have any, that's what I'm doing right now with mine(the back floor behind the drivers seat is completely gone and the back floor behind the passenger seat has some holes in it). You should get some Camo sticker wrap and highlight little parts on your Dash, Center console, and panels. Are you going to take the headliner out and spray paint it camo? or ignore it? | |

| There wasnt any rust under the carpet but the carpet was growing mold so it had to go. the carpet was only $27.00 dollars plus the carpet glue which $20.00. Im painting all the panels black
with dash spray paint and so everythings not camo and it will look good with the black on the seat covers. idk what im doing withe headliner yet but i'll find out

| Alright well i took my car to NAPA and had them test the alternator and battery. Ok both of them are good but the car still wont start when you turn it off . so they tell me to take it to a muffler
shop right downtown to have them look at it. alright I take it to them they look at it for 5 minutes and they tell me " Oh your battery connector is loose let me tighten it up" he does that and
the car starts right up. Im like you got to be kidding me. So me taking my alternator to the alternator shop to get it fixed was a big a$$ waste of time and money when all I had to do was tighten
up the battery connectors.

| clean tight battery posts are critical.
A bad connection in a high amperage situation can cause no start problems poor start problems, charge problems, and in extreme cases, the battery post or clamp can even get hot enough to melt, causing an arc that causes even more damage.
Clean the post and clamp with a battery post cleaner, or suitable substitute. I often use emery cloth. make sure both are nice and shiny. Install, Tighten, and apply grease or spray paint to seal the air out of it. Keep posts and clamps as straight as possible (don't allow them to get dished out. You want maximum mating surface), and use the right size clamps. Pos and Neg clamps are different sizes.

| Alright I put in the rest of my carpet, and got some new all season tires. Now all I have to do is cut some holes to bolt down the seats. Then Ill call the the stereo installation place tomorrow and hopefully have the stereo installed sometime next week. Then get my rear seat covers for the back. then i will be 50% done | |

| it looked pretty muddy in the background. that would of been fun to take that mudding, how did you get stuck? did you hit that dirt on the passenger side bumper and it stopped? | |

| Ive done quite a bit on my metro I just havent posted anything. But Ive put all new floor mats in. Installed a kenwood stereo. straight piped it and it sounds awesome I put a fender on drivers side because the other fender was so dented in after someone hit me at a bonfire. Also have a brand new Mitsubushi alternator because the other one broke. I've also painted the rims and the hubcaps. The rims are gloss black and the hubcaps are a bright gloss red. I painted the airfilter cover a gloss black and put in a new filter and I think that's it. There's probably more but I cant think of them right now | |
