Well, the engine finally had enough. It has been on the edge lately and has run terrible at times. It was idling fine and all the sudden, it slowed down really slow and then quit (right when I needed the tractor the most). No matter how hard I tried, it would not fire. So I let it sit for 30 Min. Upon return I found a stunning sight. There was fuel overflowing out of the air filter housing! Needless to say, the tractor is once again, Down. I've got the carb all apart for a good cleaning. However, I've got a neat little twist of a surprise up my sleeve. Wink This Monday, if all goes planned, I'm going to have one humdinger of a surprise for the tractor. Stay tuned. Things just might get bumped up a notch. Smile

Well I do indeed have a big surprise(literally) today. For a stinking deal of $150, I picked up a 20 HP briggs opposed twin. Incidentally it came off a Craftsman. This is one beast of an engine. I can't wait to put it on.

You got to have one if ya have the electric start. A standard car solenoid will work I think.

They sell heavy duty starter buttons that can replace the solenoid, but solenoids are usually cheaper.

Not sure what your particular starter pulls. Personally I think 50 amps is probably plenty, but it might warm up if you hold it too long.

Lugged this beast into the garage before it rains. It's much bigger than I thought. Laughing Notice the train horn on the seat. It's mostly done. Just have to make a permanent mount and a paint job.
