Where do you ride, and how fast do you go?

I'm seeing a wide range of tractor uses here, everything from show, and monster high, to low and fast. So what do you do with yours? What kind of speed do you ride at?


I'm in cahoots with 4 others, the mowercycle gang. One of them is on here, TheRainbowboxer. We run hilly grass terrain races, trail ride with hills, and some mud. Races are probably around 30 mph tops, faster on the long straights we sometimes run. Off road we are usually well under 20mph. They will go 40-45mph, but that is only when we take them on the road, or down the lane.

When we lived in NY I ran my tractor on the road, by the train tracks, and on minor ATV trails. It had smaller tires and was geared for around 45Mph tops. When we moved down here the only place I ride is in our woods and around my dad's property; lots of hills, rocks, tree roots...etc. I repurposed the tractor with larger tires, a rack for carrying a saw, fuel & oil, a locked rear end and lower gearing. Now it runs out to 12mph @ 3800.

i hav a 87 wheel horse with ag tires tht i use for work an go down in the mud every once in a while...it sucks pulling out when its up to the fenders tho lol...an i had a cub cadet tht was lowered an did around 3 till i blew the tranny an i had a small track at my house an i hav an old mtd? tht someone gave me an i rebuilt ...it has a high compression piston shimmed head tube frame underneath the stock frame an alot of shit ...i run tht on the road an it smokes some tires ill tell ya! sweet donuts too! an i run it in the yard but when u get it going for a few laps it smokes from being tilted but its fun...sucks tht i cant keep a belt on it so im using the battery for a wheel horse mud tractor im currently builing...rear tires on the front chopped exhaust gotta cut fenders...quad hubs an tires on the rear an has a kawi engine

Before moving south i ran nearly all my tractors bone stock thru the swamp behind my folks place - my last mud machine was my 80's agway .

Since moving south, ive 'tweeked' a couple tractors for speed , all basically 'unsafe' machines thrown together - my fastest is my 94 murray - hit speeds upward of 30 mph ( couldve gone faster- was too unstable to run it faster) - i took it apart meaning to rebuild it sometime.

Three to four years later i dragged it out and started to redo it properly - i plan on initially using a OHV single motor and tweeking it from there.

I plan on eventually building a couple more mods and a couple offroad tractors .
